I am not happy that Trump won in part because he’s a racist and a fascist. That being said, illegal immigrants are by definition criminals:
They either sneak across the border or over stay their visas, both of which are crimes. (See 8 U.S.C. § 1325)
They routinely present forged documents and perjure themselves on the required I-9 form when applying for jobs. And that’s a crime.
So the criminal rate of illegal immigrants is about 99% or so.
There is a lot of talk about “ripping families apart” when illegal immigrants are deported. I don’t get it. When other criminals are sent to jail or prison for other crimes like robbery, burglary, non-payment of child support, etc., I don’t see people talking about that “ripping families apart”.
When illegal immigrants are deported, they can take their families with them so I don’t see families being ripped apart. And in the case of illegal immigrants, they knew that they were committing crimes when they did so and they knew that they were subject to deportation at any moment—similar to a burglar knowing that he was subject to being jailed at any moment due to his criminal activity.
In addition, people say “they are just here to work” or “they just want a better life for their families” but with respect to this last matter, that is the same for many criminals. If money is stolen, gotten by robbery, theft or embezzlement, the money often benefits the criminal’s family, etc.
