i’ve been playing “the last of us 2” as one of my friends watches.
i had so many question about the last season of the show,
“the last of us“.
the first game came with my ps4 and i loved it.
when the sequel came out…
…i was pretty excited but BOY,
where the opinions i started hearing about it were bleak.
When I asked other I know about it,
they told me how terrible it was because of how they handed Joel.
whew.
i actually got my “a-ha” moment with that sentence above.
so I didn’t play it off of what I was hearing but not only that:
We have to play as a character named Abby that gave Joel his fate for his actions.

don’t even get me started on the alleged transphobia in regards this vixen.i think it’s because you have to play as her afetr what happened and people were upset.
that was the big “fuck this game” because of what happened to joel.
interestingly enough,
as i’ve learned abby’s backstory while playing,
i’m going on record to font that as much as Joel was my Zaddy…
He deserved it.
Joel did something hurtful to someone else,
and even if his intention were good,
it harmed Abby in the process.
Abby and Ellie have trauma because of Joel’s actions.
that is what made the game is so deep for me.
so i get why ellie wants revenge for joel,
but i get why abby wanted revenge too.
i’ll try not to give spoilers but:
The game basically shows you there are legit two sides to every story.
not only that,
there are people we think are bad OFF OF WHAT WE HEARD but in reality:
If we heard their side of the story,
we might understand their point and maybe even agree.
one thing i’ve been learned in life:
Sometimes,
our friends/family/partners are the actual villains.
They painted themselves as victims but they was wrong AF.
in many situations,
we aren’t always gifted the option to get context.
some shit we might have to go on by someone’s word but:
If we get the opportunity to find to the other side of the story,
we should always do that.
…because how many times have people not gotten our side,
but judged/hated us off someone’s else narrative to be the victim?
kudos to naughty dog for creating a game that sat with me.
this will be added to being one of my fav game series.
i love it.
oh and while I’m still playing this game:
Bella Ramsey is did a terrible job bringing Ellie’s grief and revenge to the character.
Pedro Pascal did a great job of bringing Joel to life.
The second season doesn’t add the details that make the game so good.
They left out a ton of shit that would have made the show dynamic.
I feel like people will like Abby more than Ellie in the third season.

Exactly! I played the game solely because of the tv show. And I loved it. Both parts. They did Joel dirty but I appreciate the story because you weren’t expecting it. I thing the underlying message is that at some point the cycle of revenge has to stop…otherwise it can go on forever. Feelings are valid but actions have consequences not only for you but others who are close to you. You can apply that many different areas of life
