i appreciate gen z on rih’s social media for their super sleuthing.
when i was a young millennial in my 20s,
i thought i knew everything because:

i was the master of the universe.

as i grew up,
i learned very quickly how i was loud and wrong about many things.
people i admired and went to bat for disappointed me as time went on.
so when i see all this discourse about jay z and harvey weinstein,
if i was a 20-something gen z,
i would probably believe what i saw and take it as truth.
realistically…

none of this evidence looks like jay in 1996,
where the original accusations started from the file cabinet labeled “E”.

this is jay in 96:

the reality is that once upon a time,
harvey weinstein was a powerful male in hollywood.
he was co-owner of ( x the weinstein group ),
which produced a lot of movies and lets be honest:

from all the super sleuthing,
every single picture and video i have seen of those two were at events.
now if you show me a picture or video of them together on vacation:

i’d be ready to do more investigations.

i don’t know if jay z was involved in the fuckery,
because he could very well be,
but we can’t just start throwing spaghetti at the wall hoping it sticks.

we can’t go on every single picture with these two that some triflin’ behavior was afoot.

how many of us have stood next to other people,
partying and posing like we were besties,
working and doing business,
and we didn’t know they were doing triflin’ shit BTS?
and if we did know,
how many of us turn the other cheek and minded our business?
we hung with them strictly for their connections,
climbing the corporate ladder,
money,
or because wanted to fuck them.

so if we are gonna throw jay under the bus:

there are many other celebs who were associated with,
did business with,
and innocently were around harvey weinstein (and others) too.

if we are gonna throw the alleged trash out,
then let’s throw it all out.

  1. The Jay-Z situation is interesting because you could say guilt by association, but you could also say birds of a feather flock together. We must be honest about whether people deserve forgiveness and whether they are entitled to redemption arcs.

    Jay-Z is currently a married man and a father and has been for some time now, and that should count for something. However, there is a 12 year age difference between him and Beyoncé, both him and Dame Dash were fawning over Aaliyah back in the day and they were at least nine years older than her, he was hanging out with R kelly back in the day, there is also rumors about him and Foxy Brown back in the day as well and he is also 9 years older than her.

    There is a lot of smoke surrounding Jay-Z. The issue is whether we can and should look past his alleged past indiscretions. If what’s alleged is true, can he be forgiven, and should he be forgiven?

    Also, if we are going to be honest, we have a Black Celebrity problem in our community. Either way why are people so obsessed with trying to tear Jay-Z down or try to defend him, why can’t we just let the chips fall where they may?

  2. Just because you smile in a picture with someone or know them business wise doesn’t mean you know what goes on when they get home. It’s crazy to hear people say Jay z is in the files from 1994 before he was even known or had a debut album. Secondly it’s been known that Epstein had an infatuation with white supremacy so I doubt he had black people on that island. 🤷🏾‍♂️

  3. And it’s who jumping all over this: our fellow black folks. It’s like, as a people, we can’t wait for someone deemed at the top of their game to fall from grace or holes inks poked in someone’s “perfect” image. Yet, when we make it and our friends and family starts hating on us, we can’t understand “why we can’t stick together as black folks”. I could care less what Jay Z did, but I don’t assume the worst because of pics with men who he may not have been privy to their personal lives and indiscretions.
