Let’s just keep it real, the reason why a lot of white people are mad is because that Super Bowl from a symbolic standpoint was Black and centered Black people, and the Black people who had something negative to say just seem like weirdos, lames, and goofballs.
They’re mad because the Eagles won, and the Chiefs are supposed to be America’s team per Trump and MAGA. Jalen Hurts is Black and seems to be 10 toes down with Black people and the Black experience; he has a Black fiancé and from my understanding an all-female management team. Even though Jalen is 26 years old, he has that 90s swag meets Cosby/Different World respectability politics air about him. Just look at the way Jalen answered the question of Trump attending the game vs. how Mahomes answered the question.
Look, I love to see it; it’s time for the pendulum to swing the other way. I like seeing Jaleel White, Kendrick Lamar, Jalen Hurts, and others who belong in that nerd, conscious, respectability lane start to win out over the rachets. Not trying to be totally disrespectful, but what was Lil Wayne really gone to give? Have the time he can’t remember his lyrics, and then on top of that, what does he represent …. Drugs? Yeah, Kendrick was a much better representation.
I think people are also mad because they have made Drake into this red pill/ manosphere type of figure, and all that stuff is Wack and as much as Kendrick was dissing Drake, he was also dissing all that manosphere stuff and the people who subscribe to that ideology and they know it. So, you are seeing a lot of weird takes, you’ve never seen them look into the audience to see who’s singing along during half time so why would they do it with Kendrick. Also, Kendrick is one of the most award hip hop artist, so let’s put some respected on his name.
