are we are in the “give us nothing” era of performance?

there is no denying that many of the new artists today are missing something.
is it charisma?
talent?
superstardom?

many of these folks just don’t have “it“.
so when they perform at award shows,
we are often left yawning.
the VMAs are a shell of it’s former self now.
why?
there are no:

we don’t have any real superstars anymore besides the current millennial acts.
i saw this performance from “the new britney“,
aka tate mccrae,
at the VMAS and i was like…

it was good towards the end but still:

every time i see tate perform,
she is always trying to remind us she is flexible.
she is lacking something and i don’t know what.
whereas lady gaga:

and fine ass ricky martin:

who is aging like fine wine and i’d love a taste:

…gave what i was looking for.
in my head:

older and millennial talent had to perfect their crafts,
especially with performances,
because that is how they’d sell their music.
millennials watched these shows because this was what the blood,

sweat,
and tears led up to.

they were trained to be superstars unlike those now,
where basic gets pushed to the front of the line.

we are literally giving people careers because they have BBLS.

giving us nothing is the new standard.

we are stanning for randoms who appear on reality shows.
this is how i know we have lost the plot.

am i wrong in thinking this?
are the next generation of talent just not giving?

lowkey: the way we made 1 hit wonders…
they blessed us with one hot song and that was that.
we need to bring that back again.

  1. Tate McRae is a dancer trying to sing 🤷🏾‍♂️. I didn’t understand one word she was singing.
