How honest of a conversation do we want to have here? At first glance, I do empathize and sympathize with Braxton Wells. I hate that he was facing homelessness as a veteran. I hate that he has PTSD. I hate that he was having suicidal thoughts. All that being said, spare me the nonsense.
I get intellectually that men can be the victims of sexual assault and rape, but I also understand that mental health is real. I absolutely believe that we don’t do enough for our veterans and that having homeless veterans is a national disgrace. But if we’re going to be honest, veterans also get a lot of services and assistance with home purchases, free education, and employment assistance. The fact is that a lot of the time if you are a homeless veteran, you more than likely have severe mental health issues.
Braxton Wells admittedly isn’t well, and his whole post comes across as very strange and unhinged. It’s giving very much Jaguar Wright vibes. First, you’re penning an open letter accusing Tyler Perry and Mark Swinton of things, and you’re bringing GOD all in the mix, and it’s like “ Sir, what does GOD have to do with it, and did you take the money?”. People are relying too heavily on poverty as to why they don’t know how to take care of business properly. You as a grown adult let this person fly you 1st class across the country for a non-existent career (again, let’s just keep it real) several times. You let this person wine and dine you with expensive meals and liquor at high-end restaurants. You go with this person back to their house where you were allegedly sexually assaulted with Vaseline (Vaseline is not recommended at all for anal sex, and you’re talking about a high net-worth man who’s into gay sex. I would imagine that they would use better lubrication, but I guess anything is possible in a world where Diddy was using baby oil). Then, to top it all off, while you’re distraught over what just happened, you let this guy Apple Pay you $6,000, and you take it instead of turning it down.
In my opinion, it sounds like high-end sex work/high-end prostitution, with all due respect; and that’s part of the rub for me. People just don’t want to own their Ho-ish ways. Now he’s trying to claim mental illness and legal malpractice for entering into an agreement where he was paid $200,000 while his lawyer got $200,000, and now Derek Dixon is suing for $260 million. Sexual assault, even against men, is real, but Braxton needs to go have a seat. I think the general public has a right to question without being accused of victim shaming.
