As someone who use to clean restrooms I can tell you from first hand experience that the women’s restrooms were the worst an absolute horror show, so when people try to have conversations about who’s cleaner men or women I kind of laugh. Honestly I would go with men.
I think there is a difference between hygiene and grooming and speaking specifically about the African American male community there is a one two punch in terms of the actual conversation and then the economic realities people have. For the sake of argument I’m going to put everything under the grooming category , in my opinion in our community for the longest time grooming began and ended with a good haircut. It wasn’t until the term metro sexual came about that people started having the conversation around elevated grooming.
It’s crazy because you will have these men who look good with a nice haircut , crazy bodies but their feet will be jacked up. I think you would be surprised if you looked around you would see a lot of black men who are under 45 who don’t and won’t have their feet out even at pools or the beach, at best its slides and socks. I’m not saying this because of a foot fetish but I believe this is the case because we haven’t normalized the conversation around the importance of getting manicures and pedicures early on and maintaining that.
