A father who told police he murdered five of his children allegedly invited multiple Grindr dates to his house as his kids’ bodies decomposed in the trunk of his car.

Police first began investigating 38-year-old Wellington Delano Dickens III on October 27, 2025 when he called 911 to report that he had murdered four of his children and placed their bodies in the trunk of his car, as previously reported. He also reportedly told police that he buried deceased 1-month-old in the woods, and left a 3-year-old boy alive in his apartment.

“I killed my children. It’s a lot to explain, but in a nutshell, it’s all my fault,” Dickens said in his 911 call, according to local outlet WNCN.

Authorities obtained search warrants for Dickens’ home on January 14 and January 15 that included access to the father’s computer and multiple iPhones, the outlet reported. While investigating one of the phones, authorities allegedly learned that Dickens was using Grindr, a dating app for homosexual and bisexual men.

Investigators found text messages that indicated Dickens invited multiple people over to his home after meeting them on the app, per WNCN. A warrant obtained by the outlet said the texts suggested that the people Dickens met on Grindr “frequented the home during the time san of the murders taking place.”
