We’re learning new details about a community coach at Evans High School who has been arrested and charged with improper sexual conduct by a teacher, according to Columbia County jail bookings.
According to records, 30-year-old Montel Watters was arrested on Tuesday.
In a letter sent home to families, school officials say administrators were notified of a report of an inappropriate relationship between Watters and a student that occurred off campus.
According to the incident report, earlier this month, Watters gave the student a ride home after a game.
Watters told officials on body camera footage that he received oral sex from the student while in front of her house, according to the incident report.
Officials say a witness who saw them together that night, noticed Watters without clothes on.
Columbia County School District Police were immediately contacted to investigate, according to the letter.
A spokesperson for the school district says a community coach goes through a background check and receives a stipend, but is not otherwise employed by the district.
School officials say Watters will no longer be working with the team or school in any capacity.
Watters bond was set at $5,100, according to jail bookings.
