I reallllllllllllllly want to go to this Brandy and Monica concert.
My millennial heart is bursting with FOMO.
My current budget isn’t allowing me to be great.

as a millennial,
i was there when kelly rowland launched her solo career.
“dilemma” with nelly is one of my fav songs and i was excited for her album to drop.

Who told her to release “STOLE” as her first single?

that entire debut album rollout was tragic.
i’m still annoyed “haven’t told you” wasn’t even a promo single.
her second album,
“ms kelly“,
was a much better single wise but of course…

bey to help push it.
atm,
many of us were shaking our heads at her movement during that time.
it didn’t help they were always asking her about be during her album drops.
she always had good songs on her albums but it was like they were sabotaging her.
so when i saw she is opening for brandy and monica on their tour,
i saw people upset that she is their opening act…

…and i don’t know why because kelly is right where she needs to be as an artist.
unlike what she did with DC,
she has the amount of hit solo songs that are opening act worthy.

She is known for her role in DC than a solo artist for me.

she never established a personality outside of DC.
i feel like michelle did it better when she went into gospel.

honestly,
i don’t feel bad for kelly and i don’t think she feels bad either.
she is successful in her own right and her legacy is fulfilled.

I love Bey but I’ve always felt DC was to push “the child of destiny” which is her.

when bey does her “ok this was fun but i’m done” tour and adds:

LaTavia

…to the line up,
this is where kelly will shine because she does well when DC is the backdrop.

another “should have been” single that could have been huge…

smh.

  1. I will have to disagree. I think she has had a really solid solo career. She is very respected not only for being in DC but also her solo and movie endeavors. Her albums were all top 10 except the first one. Her first single choices might be questionable but overall she has a good career. Also when I traveled to Australia I was pleased to find out how huge she is there.

  2. I agree with her not standing out music wise and horrible choice of singles in the beginning. If her team is smart she will use this to lightly introduce her back into the public for music then drop a single (it has to be fire) and then another single then transition into an album
