Let’s keep it real, the problem here that no one wants to talk about is meritocracy and what it means to be qualified vs. unqualified.
What the Right and by extension MAGA has done by all of this D.E.I. rhetoric is essentially create the narrative that White makes right. That simply being White and more specifically being White and wealthy makes you qualified for everything and by contrast being anything other than White, but, mainly being Black inherently makes you unqualified and undeserving of anything.
Nearly everyone in this administration is uniquely unqualified for the positions that they have, even Linda McMahon (United States Secretary of Education), the head of the Department of Education, admitted as much. So, unfortunately, these types of mistakes should be expected.
People don’t want to fight against the merit argument; people are too comfortable letting the narrative of White people being naturally qualified fly unchallenged. The problem is real-life historically and in realization is not in lockstep with “ White Supremacy”. Since a lot of these people are mediocre at best a lot of what they do will be disastrous.
Amen! DEI actually covers their incompetence because it’s supposed to spread the accountability around. But when they choose to only be in charge, they run the risk of greater scrutiny when they fuck up. DUMB!
