taraji p. henson has been telling a lot of stories during the press for “the color purple“.
if you really pay attention to her body language,
it is telling us the whole story.
matta fact,
a majority of the cast is looking very “over it“.
she has been speaking out about the lack of pay and not being paid her worth…

i really wish her situation with empire didn’t go south.
she was at the top of her game in that role but alas…

i feel her tbh.

ima need oprah to turn up the heat after the mo’nique allegations come back to bite her.

it’s hard to be “on” when everything is not where you need it to be.
it’s just like us,
going into jobs we hate,
just to “play the game” while not getting paid our worth.
having to smile and kiss ass to folks we really cannot stand just to survive.
just to know that our white co-workers are making more just off the strength.

At my last job,
one of the white VPs was being paid so much money,
they had to get him to quit.
He did absolutely nothing for his check,
while the other black VPs got paid less but worked more.
This was a black company btw.
Don’t even get me started on his severance.

this issue is a cluster fuck and has a lot of layers to it.
i think we all feel taraji on a soul level tho.
the question is:

How do we fix it?

  1. Whether folks want to believe what people are saying about Oprah or not she is a business woman & the bottom line is money. If what she is investing in is not lucrative she wouldn’t be doing it even if that means screwing over her fellow black actors.

    1. Oprah isn’t screwing anyone over. Movie budgets come from the studio/executive producers. She didn’t make the budget. Also Taraji made a post praising Oprah and saying how Oprah has her back.
