Allegedly,
i thought YMCA from The Village People was a gay anthem.
I heard that when I was a kid.I literally just asked someone if that song wasn’t associated with gay folks back in the day.
i mean,
allegedly,
the group was dressed like they were going to a circuit party.
it doesn’t help “village” in the group name is the gay mecca in new yawk.
ever since our new president made YMCA his hype track…
the group’s been spiraling and having a hissy fit over the song’s alleged origins.
now,
one of them is even threatening to sue anyone who dares call it a gay anthem…
Victor Willis, who wrote the lyrics for the hit 1978 song, wrote a lengthy Facebook post telling people who claim the song is a “gay anthem” to “get your minds out of the gutter”—and threatened to sue news outlets that refer to it as such.
x you can see the entire Facebook post here
so…
He wants to sue everyone that was born before and after this song came out?
he didn’t sue when the song was a running joke since the 80s and 90s but now…
YMCA is a gay anthem. This is widely accepted. It references a public space where men, specifically younger men, can get together and…work out. Watching MAGAs dance to this is never not entertaining given how oblivious they are to its meaning. pic.twitter.com/zkDsrhLqEz

yup,
sounds logical.
lowkey: why does it feel like we are in a different dimension than other people?
like,
other people are trying to rewrite history for whatever timeline they are in?
