america is in this really weird place that when shit is about to go down,
especially when white folks are involved,
we assume that their privilege will protect them.
i assumed trump would be found not guilty and he’d be on his merry way.
i didn’t see this on my bingo card, well i didn’t have a bingo card for this,
but this verdict…
Jurors found former President Trump guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records, making him the first former president to be convicted of a felony.
The jurors reached a verdict in late afternoon, after less than 12 hours of deliberation in the hush money criminal case.
The 12 New Yorkers on Trump’s jury reached a unanimous decision on his fate, eliminating the possibility of a hung jury.
Trump faced 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with a hush money payment his ex-fixer, Michael Cohen, made to porn actor Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election to keep secret her alleged affair with Trump a decade prior until after votes were cast. Trump denies the affair and has pleaded not guilty.
not his home city bringing him to his knees.
i guess they proved those folks up in the bronx otherwise.
so um…
So what does this all mean?
Is he going to jail?
Is he still going to run for president?
Does this give him street cred amongst the hood?
Are the MAGA folks about to start shootin’ up the joint?
help!

I’m going to go and say, Thank you, New York! Let’s just say the quiet part out loud, I was shocked by the guilty verdict just like you, we all know he was guilty as charged but I thought the jury would be too scared to convict.
That’s the part no one wants to talk about. There is this air and aura of fear and intimidation that surrounds Trump and his Maga-cult, per his own words “ Stand back and stand by”. Everyone is scared and walking on eggshells when it comes to Maga because they are supposedly crazy and no one knows what they are capable of. These people stormed the capitol on January 6th, they showed up to school board meetings with AR-15s because they were angry about what was being taught in the school, etc. Americans can’t continue to live under this type of fear, Trump acts the way that he does and says what he does because he feels and the media keeps telling us that he has millions of Maga behind him that will take to the streets and cause havoc and mayhem if he isn’t handled with kit-gloves, and acquiesced to. Hopefully, this starts to send a message that we are over the fear and intimidation.
Also, can we address the felony conviction itself? People are starting to get disgusted, a felony conviction often destroys the average American’s life and Trump should be forced to speak into that space. Don’t let these Republicans make this the greatest travesty in American Judicial history while we have Americans getting exonerated after serving 20 and 30 years in jail for crimes they didn’t commit, or while we have Americans accepting plea deals for crimes they didn’t commit because of their social economic status.
