jean wyllys left because they’re huntin gays over in brazil (run)

i heard gay males over here use to love going to brazil for their meat.
not the food,
but the fine brazilian males that live in those parts.
all that has changed and many gays are in fear of their lives.
an openly gay congressman,
jean wyllys,
has left the country because of all the rampant homophobia.
a foxholer sent me this from “npr”

An openly gay congressman in Brazil says he has received death threats and that he has left the country and given up his third term in office because he fears for his life.

Jean Wyllys, a champion of LGBT rights and a critic of newly elected President Jair Bolsonaro, also told the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo that he faced a deluge of false accusations on social media and an increasingly hostile environment for LGBT people in Brazil.

“For the future of this cause, I need to be alive,” Wyllys said in an interview published Thursday. “I do not want to be a martyr. I want to live.”

He declined to reveal where he is currently but said he plans to study, write and work on a doctorate. Wyllys, who was re-elected in October, would have been sworn in for his third term as Rio de Janeiro congressman in February.

on why he has left so abruptly:

Wyllys’ departure is likely to heighten existing concerns among Brazilians that the election of far-right populist Bolsonaro has stoked homophobic violence. LGBT people in Brazil have been targets of rampant prejudice and sometimes violent or deadly attacks for years, and many view the rise of the far right as a threat to their safety, as NPR’s Philip Reeves reports.

On his first day in office, Bolsonaro’s government, which accuses the gay rights movement of undermining family values, effectively removed the LGBT community from the list of groups covered by the country’s human rights ministry.

Wyllys had frequently clashed with Bolsonaro when the two served as colleagues in Brazil’s Congress, even spitting at him during a 2016 hearing to impeach then-President Dilma Rousseff.

Wyllys said his decision to leave was motivated not by Bolsonaro’s rise to the presidency, but rather by the violent climate against the LGBT community in the wake of last year’s polarizing presidential election. “In one week, three lesbian couples were attacked,” he told Folha. “One of them was executed. Violence against LGBTs in Brazil has grown frightening.”

how “trump” of them of there.
forreal tho,
that’s scary af.
it’s not easy over here,
but imagine being over there where it’s enhanced by 10?
it sounds like hell on earth.
it would be so wicked to out someone in that climate.
i want to send prayers to all the brazillian foxhole.
from out to dl,
i hope you remain safe and covered in tremendous protection.
it’s a shame that hate could ruin such a beautiful country...

  1. Sorry not sorry, but Trump was right.

Most of those countries south of the border are shitholes.

    Mexico is dangerous af!
    Venezuela is in absolute chaos!
And Brazil is a poor country full of self hating colorists.

  2. Wyllys isn’t the only one receiving death threats. São Paulo’s openly gay and moderate conservative city councilman, Fernando Holiday, has received death threats as well (see link below).

The jush of what he said…
“I do not really like bringing these things up, but I’m gay, black, parliamentarian, and they’re investigating an attack on me. They are not virtual threats, they are real. It was not on the covers of the newspapers and I do not intend to leave the country. On the contrary, it was stronger to continue [his term].”

I don’t agree with Holiday on a lot of things, esp. his stance on removing cotas raciais (racial quotas/affirmative action) but no one, regardless of their political ideologies, deserves threats.

Politics in Brazil is a dirty (even deadly) game…

  3. Brazilian men are hot. I’ve been close with a few but not sexually. I can understand. Brazil (or South America) is pretty dangerous in general, even for heterosexuals.

Sometimes I sit back and wonder when this world will change & then I snap back to my senses because I know this world won’t change. There are natural evil seeds in this world, that will always be here so the hate for different things will always be here.

It’s the world we live in where who you want to love or you skin color means you need to die.

  4. It’s not just the LGBT community I heard on the news that the country’s death toll was upwards of 60000 last year making it the most violent country outside of war stricken areas 😐

  5. This is off topic but I use to talk to this Brazilian guy, but his insecurities were too much to deal with. He was bullied in high school and it really affected him in a negative way. He was fine though! Tall with a nice round, fat ass and that peen was massive. When he wore nylon sweats that thing would be swinging! Deep down I know he was a good guy but he had issues I was not equipped to deal with.
