ya’ll seen lady gaga lately?
she wants that damn oscar.
so i asked the foxhole about “a star is born” on my ig stories the other day.
i asked if it was worth the hype.
i got a ton of replies that it wasn’t.
honestly,
i’m not really rushing to watch it either.
well it seems this movie has taken down whitney houston.
this is what i saw on twitter…
According to data from Box Office Mojo, The Bodyguard earned $411 million during its theatrical run, while A Star Is Born is up to $413.6 million. A Star Is Born is also still in theaters, so it is bound to add to that total. That said, it’s important to note that these stats don’t take inflation into account: $411 million from 1992 would be worth about $735.6 million in 2019.
A Star Is Born still has a long way to go if it wants to surpass The Bodyguard musically, though. While “Shallow” has certainly done very well, Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” and “I Have Nothing” are legendary songs, and the soundtrack is the best-selling one of all time, with over 45 million copies sold worldwide.
i mean,
something had to come along and surpass it.
as the world moves,
and the years go on,
so does other legacies.
who knew it’d be lady gaga?
the oscar nominated actress.
i haven’t heard one song from “a star is born”.
apparently,
this is the “iconic” song from that movie:
…but i do know this:
i’ll think the latter is superior.
lowkey: it’s funny how it looked like gaga was over.
she had to take a step back and get it together.

Adjust for inflation. Whitney slays from the grave.
That’s what I’m saying! Movie tickets are high af now!
The movie is good…very good, but Glenn close deserves the Oscar.
Whitney Houston had a thriving music career before, during, and after the Body Guard sound track.
I can’t even name you a popular Lady Gaga song in the past 5 years.
Now I realize how a lot of these Stan wars/ and fan arguments happen. People are unable to handle facts/the truth. If this is completely true, it doesn’t water down Whitney’s career at all, and there’s no need to water down Lady Gaga’s performance and talent. It’s like the fans themselves are insecure about their favorite artist, and always feel the need to dish out opinions or facts in order to defend their favs when it’s unnecessary to entertain the comparison of two different artists.
Hmm. I like gaga but i am not interested in seeing this movie at all. It looks boring. The song shallow seems to be winning awards but i dont like it. Gaga’s vocals on it are odd. She has a very theatrical voice that jazz stuff she did suited her perfectly.
Quiet as its kept the bodyguard was dull too. I watched on fuse for the first time and i was like wow this shit is DULL. I mean kevin costner is soo vanilla and bland. Whitney looked beautiful but she was bland too. That movie was the vehicle for a astronomical soundtrack though. I mean i wasnt alive for the soundtrack but just by looking at the stats and watching the interviews it was out if this world. 45 million copies sold no one is doing number like that.
This movie is ok.. Nothing to give Gaga a BEST ACTRESS OSCAR for.. be happy with that original song Oscar until you’ve proven yourself The Soundtrack is not great
Gaga is a talent. She was meant to be a star. Her dramatics have brought her acclaim and although her music career has cooled, she has revamped her image and she’ll forever have that voice. I hate how the media compares everyone.
Whitney is Foreva! Lol
that movie and its story is sooo tired. remade 4 times. gimme a break.
The haters in the comments… probably the older gays. Anyways, nobody was even comparing the two. Whitney did what she had to do & so did Gaga. As far as her being over, you thought! She’s doing just fine. The good sis is evolving and it’s for the better. Nobody checking for her yet every album is #1. Y’all sound real bitter oldies, get the butt plugs out your ass and ears and just enjoy the damn music. ✌🏽
This seems like grasping at strings.
Lady Gaga isn’t ever topping The Bodyguard’s soundtrack. Her film career is really all she has since no one is checking for her music anymore.
^i guess this is just for the movie alone,
not the music,
gaga is lucky she picked the right projects to act in.
I can’t understand the hype for the songs from this movie. Not feeling them at all. Her song Shallow, she sounds like a wounded cat. Not her best, vocally. The duet with Bradley Cooper, it’s painful. People say they will grow on you…not at all.
Besides I’m partial to the Barbara Streisand Kris Kristifferson movie…and Evergreen is my shyt!
Alexa go play Madonna she’s not me
^i just screamed LOLOLOL
