i love “scream“.
it is one of my favorite horror genres.
halloween is next to follow.
so i was hype to watch “scream 7“.
i purposely avoided reviews BUT:

2 Foxholers
2 Others

…made it very clear to watch at my own risk.
i watched and now the makers of that diabolical are at risk with me.
so i’m gonna give thoughts (and it’ll be filled with spoilers)…

the good

neve campbell carried her franchise on her back per usual.
sidney prescott was in full form and stayed strapped.
she will shoot TF first; ask questions TF last.

sidney had some good one liners too.
gale weathers is my icon and as second in command in this franchise,
she did what she had to do with that she was given.

ask questions and cause light chaos

i loved seeing the twins again.
mason gooding is something nice to look at and i really enjoy jasmin savoy brown,
especially in “yellowjackets“.
i’m gonna font a controversial hot take:

i didn’t miss the sisters in the last two movies.
tbh,
their story lines were over.

i thought the plot of this movie was okay with the whole “stu is still alive” angle,
but i hate these idiot stans think:

he would have survived a whole box ass 90s TV falling on his head

like,
get real please.

the first and second and third(ish) half was really where this movie shined.
there were about 2 deaths that had me like shook.
the swinging vixen and dude’s head on the beer tap.
exceptional.

let’s get into the bad:

“scream” is known for iconic opening kills.
those two randoms who died at stu’s old house?
couldn’t care less and…

WHY DID THEY PUT THEIR DEATH IN THE TRAILER???

nothing was suspenseful since we already knew how those randoms died.
can’t they hire a big time known actress to take the phone call anymore?

sidney’s daughter annoyed TF outta me.
it felt out of character that she was so fragile,
like sidney ain’t spend 30 years dodging these copycat killers,
to not have her daughter ready to go.
i guess they needed her to be stupid.

the AI/deepfake shit was…
interesting.

gale randomly showing up in sidney’s town was stupid.
i could understand if she warned sidney beforehand about what happened at stu’s house.
she just showed up and ran over the first killer in the first half.
yes,
i foned “first killer“.
Foxhole:

the killer reveals were so FUCKIN’ STUPID
all 3.

this part i will not spoil but WHAT?
i did figure out who 1/3 was early on,
because it was pretty obvious to me,
but the other 2 was a definite:

“WHO are these people?”
*finds out reason why they are killing*
“OKAY WHAT?????????”

final thought:

the “scream” franchise died with wes craven.

…and ima need whoever to study wes craven’s work to get this together.
