this doc about hurricane katrina broke me (again)

fonting of documentaries i actually GAF about…

so i started watching a doc on hulu everyone was fonting about on rih’s socials.
it’s a look into what went down before,
during,
and after hurricane katrina
,
executive produced by ryan coogler:

i had to take a break during episode 3.
for those of the millennials who were there…

we watched the devastation of hurricane katrina in real time.

i’ll never get the images of black people on the CNN,
begging and pleading for help for days on end.
no clean water or food,
having to be stranded on a highway in the same nasty clothes.
this was all happening DAYS AFTER after katrina hit NOLA too.

i cried for days watching this shit as a kid,
feeling hopeless and angry for how black people were being treated.
what it looked like outside the superdome,
and what i was hearing about what was happening inside,
was so horrific to learn.

don’t even get me started on black people being called “refugees“.
dubya wasn’t shit for how he handled katrina.
a thought crossed my mind watching:

do people realize that if some natural disaster happened rn,
especially in a black populated area,
i highly doubt our current administration would GAF.

…and that is so scary to even imagine.
now for the alleged conspiracies i’ve been seeing tho:

what is this font being thrown around about alleged blowing up of the levees?

…and why does it seem that is what they’re hinting about in the hulu doc?

watch a full episode:

lowkey: i may do these two after i’m finished with the hulu one.

once i’m down the rabbit hole…
oh and we need to give general honoré his flowers for how he handled it all:

they don’t talk/font about how he took action while others were trying to be cute.
