normani is giving us “motivation” for her debut

you know i been on normani’s team for a minute.
i been rooting for her since “fifth harmony” split.
she released her first single called “motivation“.
this is the video

#boom
that’s how it should be done.
that video set the stage for what i’ve expected from normani.

Dancing her ass OFF

she might not be the best in singing,
but she can distract with her entertaining super powers.
the song tho…

i’m “eh” on it.
it’s cute.
something to help carry that amazing video.
it sounds a little dated.
it almost feels like it should have been released in 2005-ish.
unless i make it get stuck in my head,
i don’t really see myself playing it on repeat like i have others.
either way,
i’m still gonna support.
the video already has 11 million views on youtube.
i can’t wait to see what she has coming next.

  1. I’ll be keeping my comments to myself regrading Normani because my critique of her music has had me branded a “colorist” from her stans… I will say she is an incredible performer and the dark-skin female representation that so many black girls need to see.

SN: Congrats, Jamari on your TMZ appearance!

  2. I wish the song went as hard as the video. She is dancing her tail off to soft mid tempo song.

  3. She’s got next. The visual is the winner here. From her looks, choreography, and the boys, plus the homage to the early 2000s; smart and executed well. The song is a grower. Not bad, but not great. Normani has the tools, she just needs to make sure to use them properly.

      1. I’m rooting for her as well, but I get that wannabe Beyonce vibe watching her. She needs to embrace her own identity, because to me she mimics Beyonce a bit too much. This song’s melody almost sounds a bit like “Check On It” too.

I’m all for her to succeed like her former band-mate Camila…but do it as Normani, not the “next Beyonce, Rihanna, etc”

      2. Christian! My boy! I half agree with you, now, I’m still new to the Normani train, (I didn’t really know 5th harmony very well) so I might not know what her true vibe is or who her identity really is, but I get the vibe that that’s who she IS. I think she’s just more modern. I think she will diverge a little from the Beyonce vibe, but not much. To me she’s kinda like the Ariana to Mariah as she is Normani to Beyonce. These two youngins won’t reach the same level as who they’re compared to, but they will find their own identity along the way and become successful. Now, Ariana isn’t really even comparable to Mariah, they’re in two completely different lanes now I think. I think Normani will be the same. But I’m not sure. I’m not a big follower of their music.

But I will say, her dancing is fire and charismatic. I find her captivating. Idk why.
