damn, n*ggas wanna stick you for your paper (warning)

black folks need a warning yet again.
this goes for every community tbh.
some of the gays can be EXTRA jealous and catty so this applies.
as you know,
many black folks come from the hoods of struggle.
we imagined the “good life” and strived to be there.
that seat at the table.
unfortunately,
many of us like to advertise our new worth on social media.

Gold chains
Designer clothes
Nice cars
Hanging with the haves

these things can raise our social stock within the communities.
the invites,
the follows,
the sex,
and the “in”.

a majority of us are a shallow and materialistic bunch tbh.
i’ve seen a lot of jealousy and envy in my own life to understand…

Not everyone is cheering you on.
People do be plotting.

its not just rappers losing their lives.
it can be regula degulas who made the mistake of “making it“.
many of us want to show everyone that we have made it.
for those who haven’t,
that can create a lot of jealousy and conflict among others.
i see too many people advertising their material shit on stories.
they show their jewelry and designer clothes,
tag the exact locations of parties and events they are at,
hang with folks who have beef with many people,
or promote their crimes for the forests to see.
folks be really out here thinking they celebs.

Muthafucka,
you don’t have security guards or an escape plan.

Yo ass ain’t Jay,
Ye,
Bey,
or Kim K.

in other words:

in these current times,
especially with the “have nots” being broke and crazy,
it’s best to give them “the half flex” of your life.
meaning:

Don’t tag your location
Keep some of the ice in the freezer
Know all the people that are in your circle
Stop advertising in a lowkey way you sell drugs or scam the system

if the feds ain’t watching,
the jackals and hyenas most certainly are.
from the late frank white and one of my favorite songs:

stay woke.

lowkey: i feel like people listen to songs in hip-hop,
the message is the same.
we hear about how fucked up and trifling pineapples can be,
how we gotta watch our back,
but still do the opposite of what the rapper is telling us.
the same rapper be forgetting on some “bump their head” shit too.

  1. I will never understand why folks like to advertise what they have to the whole damn world.
I always think back to things my dad would tell my and my siblings when we were growing up, “you don’t need everyone knowing what you have and what you don’t have. Not everybody has your best interest at heart.” He had a Toyota Corolla and a Toyota Avalon, but always drove the Avalon to work. I used to ask him why, and he’d just say they don’t need to know what I can afford or not afford.
People watch, and when you least expect it, they strike. And 9 times out of 10, someone close to them sold them out. Jealousy is a mofo, and huge motivator for some folks. Instead of trying to get their own, they want the easy route…just take it from someone else.
Folks just want to be up in your business for the wrong reasons. LMBO.. I already been accused of being a crackhead by someone who knows nothing about me and we almost came to blows.

  2. preach. Not just that I don’t think folks realize that even if you set your page to private your posts are open. Your ip address while surfing the web is public. So they may intend to share with their folks but anyone can see them. Every rapper that was killed recently didn’t have security. These artists aren’t paid as much as they convey themselves to be. Situations like this always reveal the truth. People use common sense. You wouldn’t want a group of strangers knowing where you reside at any give moment.
