probably not.
i’m sure he thought he had more fuckery for his creative outlet to unfold.
when we are high on the horse of doing dumb shit,
we always think we will be the special snowflake to “make it”.

his music is blocked on my spotify and i forget he exists a lot of the time.

today,
we celebrate rihanna.
what a career she has.
swept off my island and into an industry without the help of nepotism.
she endured trauma but showed her resilience.
after being counted out many times,
she continued to bounce back until she reached billionaire status.
that is an inspiration to all of us as black folks who want to make it.
tonight,
she is having a 13-minute concert at some football game.
you can’t go anywhere without seeing her face and the excitement of her return.

sometimes i forget that behind all the fanfare,

star fox didn’t make it to see his 30th birthday.
he wanted me to go to atlanta because he was doing something big for it.
he was living there before his death and had this whole 30th bash planned.

Sidebar: I will always regret not going with him to atlanta pride years before.
It would have been our first time traveling together and going there.
I bailed because of fear but he ended up going by himself.
The stories he told me made me sad I let fear fuck up a fox trip together.

whenever i start feeling insecure about aging,
