Benzino Isn’t About This White Rapper Takeover

Benzinobenzino is not here for macklemore’s grammy win.
so what does he do?
take a stand on twitter just how we like it!
he said he was trying to warn “us” this would happen years ago.
he’s mad we didn’t take heed and “let them invade our culture“.
hmm.
hiphop dx has the story…

Benzino sent a series of tweets (January 27) saying that he warned of the type of success a rapper like Macklemore had at the Grammys (January 26).
BENZINOMacklemore & Ryan Lewis won four Grammys (January 26), including Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song. Macklemore said during an interview with New York radio station Hot 97 that was published today that he knows why he and Lewis were so successful at the award show.

“In terms of the people that are voting on those ballots, filling out those bubbles, we have an unfair advantage due to race, due to the fact we had huge radio success, due to the fact that our name was circulating more in a pocket in the industry of people filling out that ballot,” Macklemore said. “This is not like a Rap Radar poll, like a 2DopeBoyz poll. This is not a Hot 97 poll. This is the Grammys. This is many different types of people. All different age groups filling out a ballot where they might not necessarily know the genre.”

well i sort of agree with zino.
personally i love eminem as much as i love jay and nem.
i have almost every eminem album and he is talented.
my opinion that macklemore shouldn’t have won jack still stands.
kendrick, jay, drake, and even ye whole albums>>>>>macklemore’s oxygen.

blacks in entertainment have a lot of room to talk tho.
they were all fawning over: miley cyrus and justin bieber.
all the rappers were cosigning the “white ratchet” fuckery.
chicks been twerking since the 90s,
but when miley does it,
suddenly its fascinating?
“get miley on our song STAT!”
justin bieber hanging with the raggamuffins and this is spawned:

smh.
i don’t think we as black people realize how talented and creative we are.
don’t get mad when the “culture vultures” get comfortable.

lowkey: do they usually announce rap album live?

  1. and i just have to say something…MUSIC has no color…I’m from Philly and know plenty of white people who have more soul than a little bit and they’re not acting it’s who they are, meanwhile on the other end i know plenty of blacks who act like they’re better than their own…and lets be honest for every white rapper how many black rappers do you have…besides em and macklemore how many successful white rappers do you know? exactly they crack me up with this inverted racism…the quality of lyrical content in hip-hop had decreased long before em came along, in fact ironically em is one of the few ral lyricists around…almost every black rapper thats celebrated today only brag about their money, cars, clothes, ice and woman…so before he goes on a rampage trying to blame white america for the economic downturn and stagnant growth of black communities in this country im going to need benzino to have a seat especially when youre playing in a reality show that’s part of the problem of us being portrayed like mongrels….

    1. What cracked me up is remember his music and him destroying the credibility of The Source. Lol yeah he damaged it way worse than white rappers

    2. thank u, Malcolm. thank u very much. dnt get y a whole lotta bruthas n sistas like to play the white-ppl-steal-are-shit-all-the-time card. lets get ova it all n integrate n nt segregate. mack’s been in the game fr a bit. n i’m nt really his fun (lol, can’t grasp where his tune is going) but i cn’t deny tat his work is unique in its own way. he’s rapping with a difference…the way many black emcees used to back in the day. rememba LL, DMX, the Queen, Public Enemy, Sugar n Spice, TuPac n Biggie? so y’all lay off him a bit, yh. n even if he’s cashing in on the gay community (hypothetically), he’s still doing smething. i dnt c y’all ranting abt Frank Ocean being lowkey, coz its his, Frank’s, choice. the way its Mack’s choice to be an advocate. n believe it or nt, its helped get sme ppl to understand tat being gay aint sme choice.

plus i like Miranda Lambert, she’s cul ppl (didn’t even knw she was gay till t’day sef)

      1. Dykes vs. Drag Queens is a thing in Seattle. It benefits the queer community here in Seattle, and had someone looked into it before posting this they’d have easily known that. I’m on tumblr mobile, so if you want proof google it or go here—> http://www.seattleweekly.com/slideshow/dykes-vs-drag-queens-softball-13801/

You all brag about finding the truth or whatever, but apparently that’s only when it suits you all? Whatever problems you may have with Macklemore, at least have the decency to learn the full story before you drag him through the mud.

Additionally, this post was made FIVE YEARS AGO. Even if you have a problem with the language used (heck, I am not a fan of derogatory terms either, no matter who is using them), know that not only was he merely repeating the title of the event, but people change an awful lot in five years. You all didn’t even know who he was five years ago, and now he’s fucking everywhere. I sure have changed a lot in the last five years, and much of that was realizing that some behaviors and phrases are not cool, and therefore unlearning them. He was 25 then, he’s 30 now. If you don’t think people change drastically between their 20s and 30s, you’re going to have a rude awakening when you get there.

Found this answer in a rant

    1. S (not typing or highlighting that long ass name) – does any of that change how he’s using “gay friendly” to increase his popularity? Just like his “sorry I robbed you Kendrick” text (then public posting of said text), he’s only doing this for extra credit.

For the record, I don’t dislike Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. I just prefer authenticity. Anyway, if more of the people complaining actually participated and voted, then the result wouldn’t have been so distasteful.

      1. Yeah no I did not do that rant I’m not into that problem that deep lol

Honestly he’s been doing this for years and he know TDE they did songs together amd he had school boy Q on his album. He just reached fame after like 12 years so I doubt he’s un authentic. Personally if he pulled Kendrick up to receive the award I would have appreciated it better but it is what it is. I know he’s a big active person in gay communities so its perception to the individualn

      2. And like I said previously that was his forth record off his album. Not his first. By fourth it doesn’t matter your sales would have no effect. He didn’t need to release it at all he choose time. You can calk me S&M.

  2. I agree.Especially with the statement about how talented we are.I guess people have forgotten but at one point in time, Rock N Roll was just a black thing.I find it weird how even though slavery took away our African heritage, we created our own over here and yet it’s steal being taken. They want to talk like us, dance like us, sing like us, rap like us.We’re the most hated but we’re also the most emulated.I swear if I see another video with a White dude moving his head and hands like he’s a Black dude from the hood trying to holler at a chick, I’m gonna fucking scream.

That’s the point I always made about the N word too. These copycats follow everything we do.They’re always like “but Black people say it so why can’t we.”I’m like “why do you need to say it, you’re not Black.”I don’t say “essay” nor do I say “vato and chulo” or any other Latino slangy/twangy words because I’m not Latino so I don’t care to.If I was Latino then I’d most likely say those words because that would make me apart of that community.

Why is everybody always so thirsty to do what we do?Talk about jacking swag, have they looked in the mirror. If we all start cutting off our nipples and gluing them to our butt cheeks.I bet you a thousand bucks they’d all start doing it too.

That’s why I said in another post that Black dudes need to stop following what White and Spanish dudes do because we set the goddamn trends not them.

I’m sure Asians and Indians have words they use but I don’t know what they are because I’m not Indian or Asian.Even if I did know the words they used, I still wouldn’t use them because I’m not apart of their community so I wouldn’t have a reason to.I only said this because the excuse is always given by so and so they grew up around Black people so that’s why they use the N word. Here where I live, we have a huge Mexican community.I’d never call a Mexican essay, vato, chulo, or any of their other words. Why would I?

  3. White people are good at stealing. They stolen lands, people, food, technology, music, and whatever they can get their hands on.
