So,
I cried…
today.
keyword: today.
i wasn’t about to get netflix just to see beyonce perform yesterday.
netflix and i are on bad terms right now,
but that’s another story.
today,
i watched her concert in houston and it was chef’s kiss.
it’s a whole different level when black excellence takes the stage.
bey has been the entire forest in an industry where we’ve had to fight just to plant roots.
yesterday,
she graced her hometown with a special christmas performance at some arena.
something about the nfl…
ya know,
who cares because once bey rode in on her high horse…
…it stopped being football and we were at the rodeo.
she looked and sounded amazing.
she was,
well,
the force that is beyonce.
the woman doesn’t just perform; she leaves a crater.
what’s wild is this didn’t happen by chance.
it’s the result of years of training,
discipline,
and outworking everyone.
that old-school hunger to perfect every note,
step,
and detail is a dead art these days.
Some of these gals are plucked off social media and solely depend on twerking as the highlight to their performances.
when beyonce retires,
and it’s coming soon,
who’s going to fill those heels?
the truth is after bey,
the stage will never be the same.
she’s not just a performer; she’s the blueprint.
as much as these new gals try,
many of them don’t have it.
once she’s gone,
it’s game over.
Who are they gonna call?
might i suggest,
uh,
well,
good luck with that.
She / He is already out there. Beyonce has influenced a whole generation that are currently mimicking her work ethics just as Areatha, Tina, Diana, Whitney, Michael and Prince inspired her.
Definitely some hard shoes to fill!! I can’t think of anyone at present.
