this is me… getting my karma now

Everyone loves to play the asshole until shit happens.

a Foxholer once told me:

“You can be any kind of person,
but if you are kind,
people will stick by your side if you fall from grace.”

in my journey through the concrete forests of life,
this nugget of wisdom has surely has been many of my experiences.
sure,
kindness has sometimes led my spirit to be bruised and battered,
but more often than not,
it’s circled back to me in the most unexpected and beautiful ways.
people have remembered my kindness and did anything to help me.
the jackals who hurt me?
i watched them burn every bridge to be trapped on their own islands they created.
just yesterday,
i stumbled upon something that made me roll my eyes

it was about jennifer lopez,
who is in the middle of a serious downturn in her career.

it suggested that society has a morbid fascination with watching strong vixens fail.
that is the part that i rolled my eyes.

ask anyone who has worked with jlo in the service industry,
or if you happened to meet her at the right place and wrong time,
you’ll find stories of j.lo being a backstage terror.
no one asked her to throw $20 million on a musical,
movie,
and documentary
about a love life that no one asked for.
she was warned against it and didn’t listen.
as if that wasn’t enough,
the public’s indifference to her tour was the final nail in this era’s coffin.

right now,
in these roaring 20s,
it feels like we are witnessing a mass humbling of everyone.
it’s not just vixens because…

Drake
Diddy
Trump

each one has received a hefty return on their “asshole investments” this year too.
contrast this with beyoncé,
whose “renaissance” era was met with insane amounts of support.
she’s proof that strength doesn’t have to mean stepping on others.
people seem to forget:

The energy you put out into the forest eventually finds its way back to you.

each of these figures reaping the whirlwind,
and even those in our personal lives,
have backstories of questionable behavior.
are they genuinely strong individuals,
or are they simply being served a long-overdue slice of humble pie?

i had to ask myself,
do we really revel in watching the mighty fall?
or are we just witnessing karma catch up with the horrible ones?

the universe has a funny way of reminding us all
what goes around eventually will come back around.

lowkey: i wonder if jlo and ben do divorce,
will she be able to turn this all around via the sympathy vote?

i think ben may have to go and she can spin this as a victim.
maybe?

  1. When it comes to J-Lo, it’s often overlooked that she owes much of her success to the support of the black community. J-Lo rose to fame as a fly girl on “In Living Color” and appeared in Janet Jackson’s “That’s the Way Love Goes” music video. Her collaborations with artists like Ja Rule, LL Cool J, and Fabolous further solidified her popularity, and let’s not forget Puff Daddy and the infamous Versace dress. However, she seemed to distance herself from the black community when she focused on her Latin immersion. Only after appearing as a regular guest on “The Wendy Williams Show” did she experience a resurgence in popularity.

Black culture played a crucial role in J-Lo’s success. If she wants to reclaim her status as an “it” girl, she needs to reconnect with the black community. This could involve dating a young black actor, rapper, football, or basketball player, making appearances on talk shows with hosts like Sherri Shepherd or Jennifer Hudson, and seeking roles in black sitcoms and movies. Ultimately, to revive her career, she must authentically re-engage with the community that initially propelled her to stardom.

  2. This seems to be the year of downfall and destruction!! It’s a fact, you reap what you sow, usually later than you sow. You can’t treat people like crap and expect to get away with it!! Especially loyal fans mostly responsible for your success. Karma will eventually get you.
