lawrence hive forever: the rise of jay ellis and his unforgettable assets

Jay ellis is destined to be etched into pop culture history as an icon.
Lawrence from HBO’s Insecure?
Forever Legendary.

if you weren’t there to witness the “lawrence hive” in action during insecure’s marathon,
well,
you missed an era for fuckbois everywhere.
that final scene in season one?
unforgettable.
lawrence shattered hearts and made enemies everywhere with big titty tasha.

That sex scene was one of the rawest moments in black cinema,
hands down.
I said what I said.

i knew jay was packing some serious heat,
but at ’24 culture con,
he gave us all a reminder

…just how much that tail has grown since 2016.
happy hump day indeed!
issa couldn’t keep her hands off it in many of their sex scenes.
i loved her for that.

So,
uh,
when are we getting Jay Ellis back on our screens?

That tail deserves a starring role.

lowkey: i gonna comfort binge insecure after queen sugar.

  1. He definitely came a long way from playing Blue on The Game I thought he was so corny, but if I remember correctly he was introduced on there with his Cheeks out

  2. I’m not even a vibes kind of person, but “Insecure” was a whole vibe at the time, it was kind of cool how it became must-see TV. For some reason with the way shows are produced now, I lose interest fast, so to this day I still haven’t seen the last season of “Insecure”, one day I’ll have to treat myself and finally finish the series.

As for Jay Ellis, I just think his star is fading. According to IMDB and Wikipedia, he is still working and has some interesting projects under his belt. I think the reality is Jay Ellis needs main character energy and shows and movies that will give him main character energy. “The Game” in my opinion put him on and made him a star and “Insecure” took him to the next level. Unfortunately, I think he’s trying to move away from “Black projects” and move into a crossover space i.e. a more “White” space and it hasn’t worked yet, the last thing I saw him in honestly was a commercial for the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder.

Also as a side note I think it’s kind of interesting because he seems to be fading like some of our other favs like Derek Luke, Micheal Ealy, and Mechcad Brooks. I don’t think you can play the black male heartthrob to so many black women and then go off and be with non black women in fiction or in real life and expect your star to continue to rise. Not hating , just making an observation.

    1. His star is fading? He was in a billion dollar blockbuster, which opened up doors for him to get national commercials and be on every top talk show.
