did the gays really turn our backs on lil nas x for nle choppa?

NLE Choppa is the hottest topic in the forests right now.

he’s the new wolf everyone’s got their hard on,
and with tracks like “slut me out 2”,
can you blame us?

i came across this tweet about the gays turning their backs on lil nas x for nle choppa

…and while the response is spot on,
i’ve got a few thoughts

1) It’s not that the gays turned their backs on Lil Nas X; it’s just that his antics rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.
There’s definitely a line,
and instead of dancing on it,
he went ahead and crossed it way past the levels of “doing too much”.
Don’t get me wrong,
I love ruffling fur,
but this was a little too nuclear:

That’s where he lost a chunk of folks tbh.

2) Let’s keep it 110:
The gays are into Nle Choppa because he gives off that “i’m straight, but maybe bi” vibe.

Once he rolls up with a vixen on his arm,
you know they’re gonna feel played and act like they’ve been lied to.

3) Can we talk about LNX’s latest music?
It just hasn’t been hitting the same since his debut album.
He might wanna take Azealia Banks advice and do a 90s house album.
He’s got the voice for it and it’d probably resonate way better than his “doing too much” antics.

4) LNX has cut his hair,
stripped away all the extra nonsense,
and is back to looking regular.

He looked really handsome at his sister’s wedding.

That previous era was just too unrelatable.
Many gay men want to see the average and relatable gays on their screens.
We love the drama but I think it becomes too much after a while.

nle choppa is just a moment.
i’m sure he’ll be back to rapping about ultra-masculine violence and toxic masculinity in his next era.
i think LNX will try something different with in his upcoming era:

lowkey: sam smith also lost a lot of us with their recent “doing too much”.
i can see them winding it down too.
i think they did for this re-release of their first album.

i loved loved loved his first and second albums.

  1. I guess I’m feeling my age because I’m really struggling with this on multiple levels. I recently listened to NLE Choppa’s song “Slut Me Out 2,” and I’m honestly baffled by how some people are calling this music. The video might be visually appealing, but the lyrics are just a string of sexual acts.

I understand that colorism is a real issue, but sometimes people just look good, and NLE Choppa is looking great and maturing well. I remember when he first started; he had a chubby phase, but he switched to a vegan lifestyle and worked on his body, and it seems to be paying off. I genuinely appreciate his “live and let live” attitude and peace-and-love vibe, even if I’m not fully into his music. However, I’m frustrated by how we often jump to colorism when a light-skinned person gains attention. Sometimes, it’s simply about talent.

As for Lil Nas X, his career seems to be a case study in making poor decisions and taking trolling too far. I’ve said it before: Lil Nas X is attractive, has the right body, and definitely has potential, but he seems to waste it. He started off strong but began pandering to white audiences and pushed boundaries too far. Even if we’re not all religious, mocking God and engaging in cult-like antics is a line many, especially in the Black community, won’t tolerate.

I do like his new look and hope this rebranding works out for him. But if it doesn’t, he’ll have only himself to blame.

  2. We not gonna act like NasX constantly centering white and non-black guys isn’t the partly the reason that the black gays have tuned out

    1. Lil Nas X instead of focusing on his craft and going bar for bar, has been making Disney Channel music.

And to the theme of controversy? Odd.

He needs something purposeful to say and fast. A legitimate hip hop song or a legitimate song singing. This play-play is using up his 15 minutes.

  3. Lil Nas X had little dip of late but he still has the talent, the looks, the creativity, everything you need. He’ll get back in his groove. NLE gives “straight” vibes which some wolves love but now he’s straddling, playing to gay/bi/queer fans. Let’s see where he takes this.

  4. Let’s be honest.

LilNas thought that over the top shit was his selling point. It worked for a while, then he got carried away. That lapdance with the devil video and then a song playing with god. Drastically fucked him up. He was really going for a gay Nicki Minaj type path. It didn’t work. Hence him toning everything down big time.

NLE never said he was gay. However he did play off the narrative that people were saying he was being too sexual, because he started as a “street nigga”. I think he just comfortable. And of course him performing at gay pride added fuel when he just wanted to be inclusive. I think his brother is gay or bi.

So it’s not a color thing. One just fucked up their career doing goofy shit. The other really doesn’t seem to give af.

If you wouldn't say it on live TV with all your family and friends watching, without getting canceled or locked up, don't say it on here. Stay on topic, no SPAM, and keep it respectful. Thanks!
