well we knew this it was coming in your reign queen…
lupita nyong’o,
or as i like to call her “queen”,
is 2014 most beautiful person according to me people magazine.
queen is setting up her reign in hollywood very nicely too.
she hasn’t even been out for a year and already on people’s most beautiful?
just look at her in another shot for the magazine:
gorgeous sista!!!!!!!!!!!!!
queen is the definition of “GLOW”.
she also had some stuff to say in her interview with the today show as well:
On the PEOPLE cover
It was exciting and just a major, major compliment. I was happy for all the girls who would see me on [it] and feel a little more seen. What an incredible journey to go from that feeling to being on the cover of this magazine. I mean, you could have never told me that that would happen when I was 16 and insecure about my complexion. I hope it means something to more than just me, to people like me who feel unbeautiful in whatever skin they’re in.
She describes what she use to think was “beauty”
Light skin and long, flowing, straight hair. Subconsciously you start to appreciate those things more than what you possess.[…][My mother] always said I was beautiful and I finally believed her at some point. On shaving her head
It was very strange and very cold! It was scary but I like to dare myself. On when she gets complimented the most
…when I have been called beautiful with not one drop of makeup on. And also before I comb my hair or put on a pretty dress. Happiness is the most important thing. She tells an interesting story
I was sitting, getting my haircut. Someone passed by and peered in and said, ‘You’re really beautiful,’ and I said, ‘Thank you.’ And he said, ‘You know that girl in 12 Years a Slave? That actress? You look just like her.’ I said, ‘Thank you so much. I was like, ‘That is an interesting scenario.’ But I liked that.effortless victory queen!
effortless!
cnn?

you don’t have to be so modest.
look i keep saying this is a great time to be black.

i don’t know…this feels like a hollywood pump and dump..we met her as a slave what else is she going to do?
you know hollyweird is shady as fuck. i hope she gets great GREAT roles and doesn’t get hung out to fizzle.
The queen has spoken.
I agree with her comment about European features and I’ll go further: We know that there is a tremendous amount of self-hating racism among African Americans whereby they hate black/African features-dark skin, broad noses, full lips and strong/nappy/tightly coiled hair. And because of that self-hating anti-black racism, they see is superior/preferred white/European features–pale skin, pointy noses, thin lips and stringy hair. And, particularly for rich ones, they can afford the best house, the best car and the best wine and they want the best woman to go along with that and “naturally” that woman does not have dark skin, a broad nose or full lips or strong/nappy/tightly coiled hair. Steven Biko said that the greatest weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. How true.
She is a beautiful woman, and she rocks her short haircut.
^agreed!!!!!!
