I have to disagree, I’m a little disappointed in the community and with the conversation in general, I feel again as black people we are getting distracted by the intersectionality argument. When it comes to Johnathan Majors the fact is “Accusations” alone don’t and honestly shouldn’t warrant the level of consequences he is currently receiving; now once and if these accusations move into convictions then you have the justification to move forward with consequences.
As black people no matter where you fall on the spectrum the fight is the fight. It is unacceptable to say or hold the belief that black people need to hold ourselves to a higher and different standard than the rest of society, a standard is a standard, and the fight is to be held to the same standard
The problem in Hollywood right now is that you can’t have Johnathan Majors facing consequences for accusations but then letting Ezra Miller be out here living his best life. Ezra Miller who is set to star in the Warner Brothers DC flash movie (side note: the trailer for the movie does look good) has had numerous serious accusations, arrest, court appearances, restraining orders etc against him and Warner Brothers has essentially told society to kick rocks, Ezra is their man and they’re sticking with him. You can’t have this blatant double standard, again the fight is the fight.
I think the better question is why are we not defending Mr. Majors against the double standard and are we as black people to comfortable with the double standard, are we all bark and no bite, we are the same community that let Nate Parker get ran out of Hollywood despite being acquitted of his allegations, in a court of law.
