don’t fight the FLO: embrace the throwback

We (desperately) want that ol’ thing back.

muni long’s “made for me” hit different,
didn’t it?

it’s like a love letter to the golden days of R&B,
it fed our nostalgia-starved many of our millennial hearts.
it gave heavy midnight love:

let’s get into FLO,
the UK trio who teamed up with missy forfly girl“:

…and delivered a sound so 90s/2000s it feels like a time machine.
of course,
many are out here calling their music “dated”.
funny tho…

Considering they could’ve hyped up the current R&B gals like Chloe Bailey,
whose album is decomposing at the bottom of the charts.

Instead,
they’d rather push twerk anthems that flop,
blue-eyed soul from white vixens,
or 2-minute tracks with zero bridges.

FLO said,
forget all that,
and brought the vibes back to when R&B actually was good.
honestly,
we’re better for it.
keep the nostalgia coming,
ladies.

check out their first EP:

lowkey: i wish they would have put that missy track on this album.

another lowkey: i really like mary’s new album,
gratitude.

  1. I like the FLO record much more than I thought. And was surprised whenI liked the ballads more than the “uptempo” tracks. I want them to have an undeniable uptempo, not sure if MNEK can deliver.

Gratitude was my other musical surprise. Wasn’t crazy about “Breathin” but really liked the other tracks.

If you wouldn't say it on live TV with all your family and friends watching, without getting canceled or locked up, don't say it on here. Stay on topic, no SPAM, and keep it respectful. Thanks!
