Colin Rand Kaepernick (born November 3, 1987) is an American footballquarterback for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League. He played college football for the University of NevadaWolf Pack. At Nevada, Kaepernick twice was named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Offensive Player of the Year, and he was the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2008 Humanitarian Bowl. Colin Kaepernick’s biological mother would like to meet her son. The 49ers’ star quarterback doesn’t seem to share the enthusiasm.

Heidi Russo spoke with FOX31 Denver last week about her first son, her attempts to contact him, and her decision to give him up for adoption. She was 19 at the time.

“I knew I couldn’t have provided my son the kind of life he deserved when I became pregnant,” Russo told FOX31. “I had him for about six weeks before putting him up for adoption, and what a blessing it was to have Teresa and Rick Kaepernick be able to step up and raise Colin.”

usso says she’s stayed in touch with the Kaepernicks from the start but, according to the story, has never spoken with Colin over the phone or met him in person. Russo said she has contacted him multiple times online, but many of her messages go unanswered.

She also emphasized that while she would like to meet Colin one day, she doesn’t feel the need to share in her son’s new-found fame.

“Don’t get me wrong, I am not ‘coming out’ to share in any of the success Colin is having, I just want him to know I never stopped thinking about him,” Russo told the station. “For my family, we will just be cheering for Colin just as loud as the Kaepernicks will be, come Super Bowl.”
