i need more money.
like,
for the lifestyle i should be living,
corporate america aint cuttin’ it.
i should be able to travel at a moments notice.
begging “mommy” for a day off is not how i want to live.
so one of the foxholers sent me the best news today.
it involves janet and the city of las vegas…

foxhole…
i’m overcome with emotion.
first of all,
i had a feeling janet would have a residency in vegas.
it’s that psychic behavior i keep telling ya’ll about.
secondly,
i feel like i listen to “rhythm nation” monthly for like a week straight.
even though it was birthed at the end of 89,
that album has aged so wonderfully.
it reflects the current “state of the world”,
which happens to be my favorite song off that album,
and how things are going.
third…
I’d love to go!
…but i don’t think i can afford vegas this year.
stranger things have happened in the life of jamari fox tho.
and last…
i love how janet has gotten her retribution.
she truly deserves it.
lowkey: missy is at essence this year too?
ugh.
So happy for Janet. If theres one artist that needs and deserves a vegas residency it is Mary Jane Blige. She has a great catalogue.
I seen Janet last summer for the first time and she puts on an outstanding show. If y’all haven’t seen her, y’all should go. I’m so glad she came back and is getting her accolades.
Seen Janet plenty of times and always a good show. Funny thing at the first of the shows I had an opportunity to meet her and didn’t. The first tour I was young and her then husband came up and said would you like to meet Janet. I said no cause he looked and sounded weird. My buddy showed me a tape the next day and it was the same dude. I was ready to die there on the spot.
I am right with you Jamari. My b-day is May 18th and I wish I could just buy the ticket and make hotel arrangements, etc. But, as life would have it ya boy is going through a difficult transition in the form of job/career. But, like a wise man said once, “stranger things have happened in the life…” 😉
I’ve always wanted to see Janet love and kick myself for not being able to when she came to my city the year before. Ugh plus I don’t think any of my friends are as big into her (like they should be) so I’ll have to probably go alone .
I’ve seen Prince when he had his residency in Vegas as well as the Michael Jackson review. Janet is one I would definitely checkout. As a veteran in the industry she puts on an amazing show (even if some of her singing is taped). I’m schedule to be in Vegas for a few days in May so we shall see.
Side Note: How does Carly B get a residency in Vegas. How many songs does she have in her inventory, like 8…. Let’s be real, novelty is not artistry. If I’m going to pay $$$ to see a show in Vegas (and yes they are not cheap) I want my monies worth. It should be on the level of the great acts that have performed in Vegas.
When I saw Prince it was damn near an all-night event. It started with Grand Central Station and Mint Condition. Finally Price took the stage for over 2 hours. I think Janet would bring that same level of artistry and skill to her show…
Would you believe my first Vegas show was the Temptations!!!!
Splendid. I am delighted for her and us!
