“the idol” wasn’t abel to withstand ya’ll hating it so much (get it? abel cause the weeknd… okay, nevermind)

i was interested in watching “the idol” on max when i saw the trailers.
i was missing euphoria and wanted a new fix from the same director.
from the trailers,
it looked like the weeknd would be doing his thing:

but when it dropped,
my foxy senses would not let me watch it for some reason.
every time i would go to watch the first episode,
something would redirect me to do something else.
i’m glad i didn’t get invested because…

ay yi yi.
i was gonna write something to ask the foxhole if they were watching too.

Something just never allowed me to do it.

it’s a good thing i passed.
judging from the reviews of how awful it was,
i saw it being ultra-trashy and how the weeknd sucks as an actor.

yikes.
just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.
it took me a while to really enjoy the weeknd’s music.
something about it was dark and unsettling.
it always sounded like the backrooms of a sex club to me.
the life of a drug and sex-addicted degenerate in musical form.
his music did not work for me when i was depressed.
i guess he tried to bring that energy to the show and it failed miserably.
welp!
better luck next time.

lowkey: i read maddie from euphoria did a crossover on the show too.

  1. Haven’t watched it yet but it seems it suffered from the same thing Euphoria’s second season suffered from. They cared more about the aesthetic than the quality of writing.

There’s also starting to be a little backlash toward smut in the mainstream.
