f**k the industry with that big black d__k!

first of all,
i love “industry” on HBO MAX.
i randomly started watching it when it was heading into the 3rd season.
binged it in like 2 days or so.
its got the sex,
drugs,
and “something to nothing” shit i love.
highly recommend even though when they start talking finance and stock shit,
i am always left feeling confused.

last night,
they came back for their 4th season.
Foxhole:
IT WAS GOOD.
i needed that energy especially after what i’m dealing with.
there is a scene that i’m still thinking about.
this is kinda spoiler but not really.
it doesn’t give away a plot point but…
the order of occurrence this morning starring whitney

fonting of whitney,
her voice really comforts me.
before the sun was up this morning,
i got an update about something that defeated me.
this is where panic and anxiety usually comes from for me lately.
as of recent,
i’ve been listening to ariana’s “eternal sunshine: brighter days ahead”.
it’s one of those albums i found much needed comfort in.
this morning tho:
something told me to listen to “the preacher’s wife” soundtrack
sidebar: you wanna know something wild?
i have NEVER watched that movie and i don’t know why.
it was like a ding in my spirit.
i discovered that album really late but ironically enough,
back in 2003,
i would play “step by step” on repeat during difficult times.
i remember one day,
playing it on repeat,
as i laid on the floor and giving all my troubles to God.
so this morning,
i put the album on when i went to the store.
as the songs played,
i felt a peace that i haven’t felt in a long time.
when i got back in,
i was putting the groceries up and this song played:
“the Lord is my shepherd” by cissy houston with hezekiah walker & the love fellowship crusade choir
now i’ve heard this song many times,
but passively listened to the lyrics.
it didn’t stand out to me like “i love the Lord” or “hold on, help is on the way“.
these lyrics stood out to me like no other…
so i saw the trailer for the whitney biopic, “i wanna dance with somebody”, and well…

it’s going to be hard to do anything biopic about whitney houston.
1 – Who can truly embody and play Whitney?
2 – The stans are going to rip it apart piece by piece.
it’s going to be:

i saw the trailer for the new whitney movie,
“i wanna dance with somebody“,
and…
WHICH SONG WAS THE MOST IMPACTFUL FOR YOU

i really love hearing opinions about people’s music choices.
many of us have serious stories that involve an artist we love.
for some of us,
we don’t get why someone else would like a “non-singer”,
but that artist’s songs helped them through hard times.
that anita bakers discussion made me think of how impactful music is.
out of the 4 old school divas above,
if you could pick one of these songs…

KATY PERRY DOES “GREATEST LOVE OF ALL” AND WHITNEY IS CURRENTLY…

when i’m going through something in life or things are out of control,
i will listen to a purely ignorant pop record ad-nauseum.
a few years year,
i remember that time i was hooked on “teenage dream” by katy perry.
i was working at insert stressful ass job here and that record was like literal candy.
i listened to it going and coming from work every day.
it took me outta that reality and into this “not so serious” situation she created with that album.

i can’t even listen to it anymore because it’s played out for me.
Side-word: Right now,
I’m listening to “Confession on a Dance Floor” from Madonna.
That is when I’m not listening to “Mother” from Cleo Sol and “So Far Gone” from Drake.
we are very protective over our black legends.
we always look at people crazy when they even attempt to sing a “whitney”.
katy did just that at her residency in vegas.
she attempted to sing “greatest love of all” and…

whitney houston was ruined from the start

whitney houston is the first diva i fell in love with.
i thought she was so beautiful.
she was a staple in my home as i grew up.
her second album,
“whitney”,
being the work that introduced me to her.
every time i hear the songs from that epic-ness,
i always think back to my mother playing it while she cleaned on a saturday.
she was a HUGE whitney fan.
she wore that album out,
but it never got old.

matter fact,
it got better each time i heard it.
“the bodyguard” soundtrack was next after that.
during my dnd retreat,
i stumbled upon her “whitney” documentary.
i ended up watching it and…
