so as you know,
today is martin luther king day.
a day where we remember the life and work of dr. king.
mike pence,
vp to “the orange one”,
compares trump’s issues with that wall to “i have a dream” from mlk.
this is what he said in an interview with “face the nation”…
he forgot to mention this part after that quote:
“Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice.
Now is the time to open the doors of opportunity to all of God’s children. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood.”
nice try mike.
i’m on to your shenanigans tho.
here is the full speech in honor of mlk:
I get what he was trying to do, but Mr. Pence that was a piss-poor execution. Just stop…
Sidenote: You know what I find funny about about all these wall-supporters…? They never ask themselves why the people are leaving their countries in the first place. Do they really think these Hondurans, Guatemalans, etc. are walking thousands of miles across Central America because the US is sooo great?! I guarantee if they did a little research they’d find the US military industrial complex and its meddling in foreign affairs is behind it. If they want to stop illegal immigration–let’s be honest, a lot of them want all non-white immigration to cease illegal and legal–into the country (or decrease it substantially) stop supporting and actively protest against the very institutions that make them leave…
Carlton Banks, it is clear that you are deeply and sadly mistaken. Please read my other comments, which now number at least three.
* Canards on Illegal Immigration include:
A. “They say” that we cannot round up and deport all of the illegal immigrants—10 million or so. But there is no need for mass deportation. It is clear that the cost of deportation is unnecessary with mandatory E-Verify for current and future employees, coupled with a prompt appeals process, imposing large fines of at least $20,000 per unauthorized employee per day on employers that hire outside of E-verify and making employee expenses due to the hiring of illegal immigrants not allowed as a business deduction. And since illegal immigrants by and large come to the US for jobs, this will turn off the magnet of jobs and illegal immigrants will go home by train, plane, automobile or foot.
B. “They say” that deportation rips apart families. Deportation and ripping up of roots and possible separation of families is the logical consequence of breaking laws. They knew when they became illegal immigrants that they were subject to deportation at any time! (And, of course, the illegal immigrants can take their American children with them if they want or they can leave them in the US.) And that this is also the logical consequence of breaking other laws—such as shoplifting, murder, burglary, etc. Yet, no one says that the government is ripping apart families when they send someone to jail or prison for such crimes.
C. “They act” as if illegal immigration is a victimless crime. Illegal immigration is not a victimless crime. For example, it is estimated that African American employment alone would be 650,000 to 2,000,000 more but for illegal immigrants. There are victims of illegal immigration, including the American workers (disproportionately African American) who would be working but for the fact that illegal immigrants have their jobs, the American school children who go without the classes and books and other resources that they would have but for the English as a Second Language classes, Spanish books, Spanish DVDs and other resources used to educate the children of illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants come to the US for jobs and don’t bring them with them. Jobs are limited. Americans first. Resources are limited. Americans first. This is America. Americans first.
D. “They say” that illegal immigrants take jobs that Americans don’t want. See http://www.theroot.com/views/how-illegal-immigration-hurts-black-america?utm_medium=feed&obref=obinsite and imagine that job loss multiplied by thousands or hundreds of thousands of times nation wide. Well, the article cited shows that illegal immigrants had taken jobs in a slaughterhouse— dirty, bloody, grimy, messy, dangerous jobs of the type that supposedly Americans don’t want—but Americans did want those jobs and illegal immigrants “stole” those jobs from many African Americans until it was set right.
E. “They say” that the rate of crime of illegal immigrants is no worse than that of Americans. But illegal immigrants commit a crime by coming to the US illegally or by staying past the expiration of their lawful stay. It’s a crime. And further, illegal immigrants routinely commit I-9 fraud/perjury. The I-9 form (http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-9.pdf ) is required for employment in the US. Employees certify under penalty of perjury that the information given on the form, including Social Security Number and that they are eligible to work as a US citizen, a lawful permanent resident, etc. Illegal immigrants routinely so declare and so commit the crime of perjury.
Further, even if the rate of crime by illegal immigrants is under the rate of Americans, what matters is whether illegal immigrants commit any crimes (I suppose other than illegally entering into the US—a crime– or illegally staying in the US—a crime—and other than committing I-9 perjury—a crime.). And they do. They kill, steal, rape, shoplift and commit a full range of crimes. They add to crime that would otherwise exist.
F. “They say” that illegal immigrants are needed for agriculture because “do you want to pay $10 for a head of lettuce?” Well, the truth is that labor accounts on average for only 10% of the cost of food (the rest being such things as transportation, wrapping, fertilizer, etc). Therefore, if lettuce is $1 a head now and if the price of labor were doubled, then the price of a head of lettuce would go to $1.10 a head, not $10 a head. Politicians who talk so much about the “free market” somehow want agriculture to be subsidized by a labor marketplace that does not follow the dictates of “demand and supply”, which is a hallmark of the “free market”. If agriculture doesn’t get enough legal workers at say, $5 and hour, agriculture should raise its rate of pay to $10 or $15 or $20 and hour as needed. If agriculture pays say $100 per hour, I’m sure that agriculture will not lack for legal workers!
G. “They say” that illegal immigration is not a crime but is a civil offense. This is not true. Not according to 8 U.S.C. § 1325, which provides for criminal penalties for illegal entry into the US as follows:
(a) Improper time or place; avoidance of examination or inspection; misrepresentation and concealment of facts Any alien who (1) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both. (b) Improper time or place; civil penalties Any alien who is apprehended while entering (or attempting to enter) the United States at a time or place other than as designated by immigration officers shall be subject to a civil penalty of – (1) at least $50 and not more than $250 for each such entry (or attempted entry); or (2) twice the amount specified in paragraph (1) in the case of an alien who has been previously subject to a civil penalty under this subsection. Civil penalties under this subsection are in addition to, and not in lieu of, any criminal or other civil penalties that may be imposed. (c) Marriage fraud Any individual who knowingly enters into a marriage for the purpose of evading any provision of the immigration laws shall be imprisoned for not more than 5 years, or fined not more than $250,000, or both. (d) Immigration-related entrepreneurship fraud Any individual who knowingly establishes a commercial enterprise for the purpose of evading any provision of the immigration laws shall be imprisoned for not more than 5 years, fined in accordance with title 18, or both. – See more at: http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/uscode/8/12/II/VIII/1325#sthash.q7f1QrrO.dpuf
H. “They say” that illegal immigrants pay taxes and Social Security contributions. That may be the case but the fact is that because they take jobs from Americans, they deny Americans the jobs and those taxes would have been paid by Americans but for the illegal immigrants. So the result is illegal immigrants employed and paying taxes but Americans unemployed and not paying taxes. Similarly, they force Americans on the dole—welfare and other government benefits. So much for their paying taxes!
And if the reason why we should be so solicitous to illegal immigrants is due to the poverty or dangers in their homelands, then what makes them so special? We have much poverty and danger in black communities all over America. But in addition to that, why should we be solicitous to them and not people in countries in Africa and the Caribbean where people are often just as poor and just as in danger and often more so?
Martin Luther King may have been saying “Build That Wall”. He was for the uplift of African Americans and you can’t be for African Americans and for illegal immigrants at the same time. I have a degree in Economics and I have done the calculations myself. It is clear that but for illegal immigrants, blacks would have between 600,000 and 1,950,000 more jobs.
Politicians say, “So what if illegal immigrants cost blacks between 650,000 and 2,000,000 jobs—and that’s a lot of jobs, I don’t care. What I care about is getting elected or re-elected with the perks, power and privileges of office and there are other groups that won’t like it if I stand up for the interests of blacks. I’ll take the path of least resistance. Hey, blacks don’t identify and stand up for their interests and so neither will I.”
(“lt was the black man’s vote that put the present administration in Washington, D.C. Your vote, your dumb vote, your ignorant vote, your wasted vote put in an administration in Washington, D.C., that has seen fit to pass every kind of legislation imaginable, saving you until last, then filibustering on top of that. And your and my leaders have the audacity to run around clapping their hands and talk about how much progress we’re making. And what a good president we have.” – Malcolm X. Any of this sound familiar?)
And if you doubt that the job loss to blacks is 650,000 to 2,000,000 due to illegal immigrants, then our questions to you are these: What do you think that number is? 0? 50,000? 500,000? What? Considering that illegal immigrants don’t arrive here carrying jobs with them when they arrive by train, plane, automobile or foot, that they compete disproportionately and unfairly with blacks for jobs (Disproportionately for unskilled or low skilled jobs inasmuch as the black male high school graduation rate is 52% and unfairly because illegal immigrants are “illegal” and not legally allowed to work and because employers know that they are more likely to forgo wage, safety and even sexual harassment laws and rules because “$5 an hour in the US is better than $5 a day where they come from”. See for example, http://www.theroot.com/views/how-illegal-immigration-hurts-black-america?utm_medium=feed&obref=obinsite where many illegal immigrants had dirty, bloody, grimy, messy, dangerous slaughterhouse jobs that went to blacks after an immigration raid prompted the firm to rid itself of illegal immigrants. To be clear: blacks wanted these dirty, bloody, grimy, messy, dangerous slaughterhouse jobs. We know that because they took them when they were available.), what do you calculate that number is? 0? 50,000? 500,000? What? And why? And what is the acceptable job loss to blacks due to illegal immigrants? 0? 50,000? 500,000? What? The answer should be at or near 0 because illegal immigrants are illegal (meaning criminals) and immigrants (meaning not citizens). Blacks are citizens and not criminals. Why should criminal non-citizens (illegal immigrants) be given preference over non-criminal citizens (African Americans)? Why should we be so solicitous to the interests of others and opposed to our interests?
Lot of old white folks in the “White” house. 🤣
What nobody wants to admit is that there is no “immigration debate”. It’s purely based on racism. I am educated and nobody that manages to make it here unable to speak English and without a degree from an American institute or otherwise can take my job from me. I never hear people say “I’m not against immigrants, just illegal ones”. They always use racist and hateful terms to describe Muslims, Mexicans, etc
I hate Coon Minorities more than racists. A racist will straight out say I’m a dirty n-word and show they don’t care for me in how they treat me. These coons will act like immigrants threaten them….yet if all that these “immigrants” brought was taken away you’d freak out. Let’s get rid of Chinese takeout, ALL remotely Latin-American cuisine, music, fashion and see how these same “build a wall” people feel.
Immigrants have to learn more about America than PEOPLE BORN HERE. Does that make sense? People born here couldn’t pass the Naturalization test. People born here are crazy, violent, do drugs, etc, but you’re worried about “more” coming here? We can’t even handle the fact that any psycho can get military grade weapons and take out tons of people at once. And now we’re worried about “America being tainted” by outsiders. America is 100% made of outsiders.
Just admit you don’t like a group of people. Stop acting as if you care about this country’s security. Seeing as many of you will film someone being harmed/mistreated and not speak up, but post in on WorldStar, I myself, someone born here, don’t feel safe. As a Black man, these “European infidels and interlopers” invaded this nation, killed the Natives, brought my ancestors here and have the nerve to tell me to go back. If I needed help, you’d post me on Instagram, dying for likes.
