Category: I WOULD ACTUALLY BUY YOUR ALBUM
i wasn’t on vacation; i was at war
lately,
i’ve been listening to the “waiting to exhale” soundtrack.
i know.
that isn’t a good sign.
it has me thinking about bernadine’s storyline in the movie.
she was the faithful wife,
thinking she was going to have a night out with her husband,
when he tells her that he is leaving her for a white vixen.
right now,
i am bernadine but i’m past the shock phase.
that was saturday when i heard the test of my emergency broadcast system.
today…
i dunno if i’m fully here for it all from mariah tbh

there are some albums that i’m not ready for yet.
i’ve always been the type that when i hear an album for the first time,
i might not take to it presently,
but “future jamari” needed it.
that has been a number of artists that i revisited,
especially once the hype has died down.
arianna grande,
“eternal sunshine“,
is one i revisited recently that i really ended up liking.
when i first heard it,
i was like “wtf is this shit?” especially,
“yes, and?“.
this song:
love.
love.
love.
LOVE.
sidebar: i randomly decided to listen to taylor’s “poets of the torture department in society”,
or whatever its called,
and i really like it now because i thought that shit was boring when if first heard it.

even though i took to mariah’s new album,
“here for it all“,
tbh…
i have mayhem happening inside me

What does someone’s album really say to you?
is it just sound or something deeper,
something that speaks to you personally?
i recently got caught up in a challenge with cousin hybrid called “cymatics”.
the idea is to listen to just one artist for 30 days,
tuning your mind and soul into their frequencies.
i picked lady gaga; he’s all in on lenny kravitz.
we’re both diving deep into the vibes and seeing what we find.
so here’s how i’m taking gaga’s new album,
“mayhem“,
into my life…
i like long black d!ck and i like long conversations

Well,
I didn’t say it.This time.
so lil nas x has finally released his first track of this new era.
its called “dreamboy” and…
angie stone, our black diamond, has passed away

when i was young fox,
going through depression,
i saw this video pop on BET and it gave me instant peace:
“Ain’t No Rain In This Cloud”
i love good songs that are current but composed like past generations.
i begged my mother to buy me her debut album,
“black diamond“,
after i heard her second single:
I LOVED the vibe of “Alright”.
after i got the album,
i proceeded to listen to it every day.
i loved her second album,
“mahogany soul”,
even though that album also brings back not so great memories.
safe to font that even though i stopped keeping up with her,
i have always fucked wit angie stone.
sadly,
today…
we need a lit political music era for 2025

I don’t think I’ve ever admitted how much of a lowkey Aretha Franklin stan I am.
I love her music and it has def gotten me through hard times.
when did music stop being a movement too?
back in the day,
black artists didn’t just entertain:
They educated
They protested
They pushed culture forward.
sure,
we needed to dance and escape,
but we also needed to feel seen and to be uplifted.
artists like…
