i think we need to be realistic about certain outcomes.
i know we want to stand on our soapboxes,
but some shit needs to really be thought through.
trans swimmer for the university of pennsylvania,
lia thomas,
has been the talk about her unfair advantage swimming with cis-vixens.
she has been smashing records but folks are pushing back against it.
she has finally spoken out.

Transgender swimmer Lia Thomas is pushing back against critics who say she doesn’t belong in the pool with other women, declaring “I’m not a man.”

The 22-year-old University of Pennsylvania swimmer making waves amid a national debate on whether transgender athletes should be allowed to compete against biological females said there’s no middle ground in the controversy as she sees it.

“The very simple answer is that I’m not a man,” she told Sports Illustrated in an exclusive interview posted online Thursday.

“I’m a woman, so I belong on the women’s team. Trans people deserve that same respect every other athlete gets.”

a majority of her teammates are not with it tho.

per insider:

But even despite Thomas’ record-breaking championship season, some of her teammates are not in favor of her competing by their side because she’s transgender.

In a feature on Thomas published in Sports Illustrated, sources close to Penn’s team estimate that out of 37 total members of the squad, only six to eight were “adamant supporters” of the senior star who competed on the men’s team for her first three years of college. About half of the team, author Robert Sanchez writes, “opposes her competing against other women,” while the remaining members “have steered clear of the debate.”

Shortly after a group of teammates issued a public message of support on Thomas’ “value as a person, teammate, and friend,” a second segment of Penn’s women’s team wrote an anonymous letter to the Ivy League requesting that their teammate be excluded from their upcoming conference championship meet.

“If she were to be eligible to compete, she could now break Penn, Ivy, and NCAA women’s swimming records; feats she could never have done as a male athlete,” the letter read, per Sports Illustrated.

you already know the teammates are staying in the shadows.
they don’t want to be dragged.
like i stated before,

and which many agreed,
i don’t think it’s fair for her to be on a cis-vixen team.
nothing against lia but she is literally a cheat sheet.
it’s like having wonder woman on a team with humans.
if i wanna win,
i’d be like yes let’s keep lia cause i know she is gonna annihilate.
it’s an unfair advantage that isn’t gonna end well.

I can’t wait for the conversation for the trans-vixen on the cis-vixen wrestling team.

that’s gonna be a fun one.

  1. Jamari, I think this hormone therapy with sports is VERY odd. They say that after a few months, that it’s comparable to a woman.

Um…hormone therapy doesn’t change bone density so I don’t get how it’s fair at all. Also, they were like 400th place pre-transitioning and are now in the top slots against women.

    How. Is. That. Fair.

    1. Yeah Keith and you are a man,so if were going by that logic and following social norms u should be 100% hetero,so get ur tail off this site and find a girlfriend 🙃 that’s why the LGBT community can’t come together Bc of ppl like this fool.smh
