i think it’s time you took your shadow on a date in the light

Q: Do you struggle with showing yourself compassion? How does showing yourself compassion make you feel?

A: I have struggling showing myself compassion in the past due to feeling like I do things wrong. Showing myself compassion was difficult because I was taught that I was a “bad kid” who should know better. I didn’t know what showing myself compassion looked like.

Foxhole,
over the years,
i briefly taken you deep inside my dark side
where my shadow resides.
insecurity,
jealously,
hurt,
anger,

and trauma reside.

we all have a dark side within us where our shadows live.
our shadows are the things we keep hidden from the light.
many of us choose to be honest or lie in fear of judgment.
it’s like the attentionistos who are always positive is actually jackals bts.

We all have a shadow side that we shine light away from anyone really knowing us.
They find out who we are once they get to know us and our masks start slipping off.

as you know,
i’m big on mental health stuff.
i think many of us could find value in shadow work.
what is shadow work?
in a nutshell…

It is bringing your dark side (shadow) to the light.

it is fully bringing all of things we hide behind to the front.
the point is to:

Accepting the truth about ourselves that we don’t want to acknowledge
Shedding light on what we have kept within the dark
Learning where the things we hid in our shadows actually started from
Connecting the dots that lead us to the beginning of our trauma
Healing and fully becoming who we ar
e
Working with our shadows instead of it being something we can’t control or don’t accept

i decided to do 100 days of shadow work.
every day,
i answer a shadow work prompt in my apple journal.
btdubs: apple put a journal app on our phones.
type journal or look for this:

it comes with password settings for our privacy.

the first question in the prompt was the one up above.
i’m on day 20.
i won’t lie to you but it has helped me tremendously.
it was helped me finally accept the things in my shadow.

I think The Foxhole should try it but I will warn you,
once you go down this path to confront your shadow,
it can be a very intense experience.

You will be forced to be very honest with yourself.

You’ll learn why you are so jealous,
mean,
depressed,

seeking attention,

still hung up on the past,
chasing/being attracted to DL males,
stagnant in our lives because of fear,

or have hurt/hurting people
by many forms of abuse.

There is a reason why we hide what we do in the dark and more than likely,
it has started from
when we were very young and/or our parents.

It’s time to confront all those things so we can shine brightly.

…but like anything with self therapy,
make sure you do your research.
if you want to go balls deep,
this is where I have started my journey:

lowkey: wait til you get to question 7.

Why are you so reluctant to be kind to yourself?

  1. Been doing this and it revealed that my delivery is off. I have so much truth to say but I get very emotional so the message gets lost.

My intuition is scary accurate and when I talk, people get upset. I blew up my family’s holidays saying everything nobody would because I got tired of being blamed for nothing. Well, everything I said came to pass and now everyone is saying me bottling it up made them disregard what I said.

Anywho, it’s prompted me to start being more vocal regularly, not when I’ve had enough. I’m sure it will alienate people, but they treat me like an alien so who cares.
