FOXMAIL
Hey Jamari,
I LOVE, LOVE LOVE your site. It is amazing. You have inspired me in so many ways. The reason, I am writing you is because you are very knowledgeable about many subjects. My question is somewhat trivial.
I wanted to know what beauty products you use. You know for hair, face, skin, personal care, body and etc. What’s your favorite body wash, lotion, shampoo, skin treatment? What beauty tips do you recommend? Thanks so much for your help!!
MY ANSWER…
well thank you foxholer!
i appreciate the love!
thank you for tuning in.
so this is probably my favorite subject.
i could talk about this all day to those who will listen.
so lets get into it…
before i start this,
keep in mind i have oily skin.
i have to do a completely different kind of regiment than others.
now when it comes to face stuff,
i have learned to switch it up.
my night formula is always different to my day.
why?
if you use the same thing in the morning for the night,
you skin will get use it and it won’t help anymore.
i use anything with salicylic acid in it.
i was told by many how it’s much better for “our” skin.
right now i’m using:
morning – aveeno clear complexion
night – neutrogena oil free acne wash pink grapefruit cleaner
i use the aveeno clear complexion moisturizer as well.
no toners,
as they can be very harsh on my skin.
after i get off work,
i usually take a shower.
so ill slather:
noxema classic clean
…and let it sit on my face for 10-15 minutes.
i like it because it removes “the day”.
sometimes at night,
depending on how lazy i am,
i’ll boil some water in a pot and steam my face.
i’ll put a towel over my head and put my face over the pot.
10 minutes or as long as i can stand it.
it opens up my pores so i’ll do it before i do my night regiment.
every other weekend,
i’ll do a clay mask.
i find it breaks me out upon regular use.
it seems to work better if i don’t do it as much.
for clay masks,
i’m using:
bentonite clay mask
now i’ve discovered another little gem.
serums.
they have many serums out there for different skin types.
a vixen from my job recently gave me a serum with vitamin c.
when i say the it makes my skin glow?
like the “meagan good” and “broderick hunter” kind of glow.
for close to 150 dollars,
it better.
i can see a difference in my skin as i use this.
do you research on serums before you test them out.
so find your skin type and what you want to achieve.
now for hair,
i was late,
but virgin coconut oil has been doing wonders.
it makes my hair:
thick
shiny
curly
…when other products failed.
i usually do a mix of:
black castor oil
doo gro mega thick hair intense repair
olive oil hair spray
…style and go.
i get a lot of compliments on how shiny and jet black my hair has become.
you can even use the coconut oil on your fur.
now for bawdy care,
joe warren put me on to:
queene helene cocoa butter creme
and like him:
my skin is softer and has a nice sheen to it.
as you can tell,
i’m all about the healthy glow.
i research a lot of “male model” and “celebrity” regiments.
as for my insides,
once a day,
i take:
1 x gnc sport multivitamins
1 x cod liver oil
…and i drink a lot of water.
i don’t eat salty foods (as it breaks me out),
cut down on sugars,
and eliminate fried foods.
i also add more fruits to my diet.
…oh and have a good laugh and be there for 1 animal everyday.
keeps you young and doing good makes you feel good.
you have to take care of your insides so your outside can shine.
…and there you have it.
this is what’s in my “jamari fox beauty bag”.
my regiment may seem like a lot,
but i wasn’t blessed with perfect skin/everything.
i gotta do a little extra than most,
but it works for me.
that being said:
WHAT I DO MAY NOT WORK FOR YOU
these are my regiments and may differ for you.
hell some people just wake up and go.
bastards.
so please do your research and test products as you go.
i spend a lot of time on google perfecting my sexy.
it’s all about trial and error.
once you find something that works:
STICK WITH IT
if it ain’t broke,
or breaking you out crazy,
then you won’t have to do too much after that.
hope this helps!
keep me posted.
best,
jamari fox
ps- there are many posts within the archives on “beauty”.

I try to stay as simple as possible with the skin care.
i use a liquid Black Soap made by a small business owner. Zoetic Essentials. https://www.etsy.com/shop/zessentials
This is like gold. I use it for washing hair, face and body.
I use a mask once a week which is the bentonite clay mask
i use witch hazel with a rose hip seed oil, tea tree and lavender
i moisturize my face with a couple of drops of Jojoba Oil.
and about a year ago, I ran across this product at an event in Dallas. The body butters and All Purpose Body Oils are amazing for all skin types. The combination of all natural ingredients seems to balance out the skin perfectly. KCC. website is :http://k2c.bigcartel.com/. You all should check them out. Black owned and small businesses. Excellent service.
I guess I will throw in my complete beauty and health regimen for good measure.
For face wash, I keep it simple with Cetaphil for men daily wash using a pure complexion facial sponge by ecotools I picked up from Target, and a dab of Sea Breeze for sensitive skin for toner. I use a water based moisturizer by Twin Lab called Na-PCA with Aloe Vera, its a spray mist that is non oily.
I have a full beard so when I shave I use Shea Moisture Shave African Black Soap Shave Butter and the Tea Tree After Shave by them. I take a mixture of coconut oil, jojoba oil, and sweet almond oil that I mix together and use it as a beard oil instead of buying those expensive beard oils, these oils are about 15-20 bucks to buy all three and will last forever, a little bit goes along way. Your beard can become dry and itchy so its important to keep it moisturize just like your face. This homemade combination, I picked up from Youtube has my beard looking shiny.
For bath, I love any deodorant soap like Irish Springs, Zest or Coast, I know its simple as hell LoL but I do not like all of the fruity bath washes on the market. At the gym I use a body wash from Nivea or what ever I can find on sale. Now after bath, I love to put on Neutrogena Body Oil Sesame Formula. I have been using this for years, it smells so damn good and leaves your skin feeling so soft. I hate lotions, I have tried to use Cocoa Butter but I am not a fan. I wash my hair with Dr. Bronners 18-in1 Hemp Tea Tree Pure-Castille Soap.
Every morning I fix my coffee with a little coconut oil in it and do 30-45 minutes of cardio on an empty stomach, afterwards I eat breakfast and take a multi-vitamins, conjugated linoleic acid(CLA), Vitamin D, and Fish Oil.
Every Night before bed I take a Raw Probiotics, Milk Thistle, and a Super Cleanse tablet to keep that digestive tract clear.
For face mask, I blend watermelon with the rind and keep it in the refrigerator and apply it my face about 3 times per week, leaving it on about 20-30 minutes, the lypocene and vitamin A found in watermelon will leave your skin glowing and looking normal for pennies. It also will not irritate your skin. I also take red moroccon clay and mix it with bentonite clay to make a face mask about 1-2 times per month for smooth glowing skin. Another good inexpensive face mask is taking a teaspoon of baking soda and mixing it with a tablespoon of coconut oil. It is no need to buy all these expensive products, you can make your own beauty products for a fraction of the cost at home.
One thing that I am bad about not doing and it is one of the best beauty secrets is drinking more water. I have to fix a big jug every morning with a tablespoon of pure cranberry juice or a squeeze of lime for flavoring to make myself drink the required amount, if I forget to do this, I will not drink my required daily intake, but drinking water helps with your appetite and keeps you cooler in the summer. Another great tip is to cut out sugar, eat fruit when you want something sweet and resist cookies, ice cream and cake.
These are my secrets for all they are worth, when you want to look your best on a budget. Looking and smelling good does not have to break the bank.
Aye that clay mask is the business been doing it for years. I also use Dr. Bronners Oil Soaps. Once you dilute them they are mild and get the job done. One last thing if that is you in that picture you are gorgeous!!!!
Love posts like this since it one of my favorite topics.
I have combination (oily t-zone and drier cheeks) acne prone skin. I used to use products with salicylic acid for the longest but have switch over with Benzoyl peroxide because it actually clears up my acne a lot faster.
FACE: I use PanOxy acne forming wash (the one with 10% benzoyl peroxide) I wash with my Clarisonic face cleansing brush because it helps to deep clean my skin better than my hands would.
I use a ice roller after I wash my face to depuff it and it helps with acne over time.
If I use toner I only use it only my Oily T-zone. Than apply a spot treatment on my pimps if I’m breaking out wait a few minutes than apply a simple fragrance free moisturizer like Cetaphil lotion.
For razor bumps I use either Skin tight or Tend Skin. I also use a clay mask of bentonite clay once a week when I can remember.
I tend to finish with a eye cream from Olay like the regenerating eye lifting serum.
*** If I’m breaking out really bad and boring is working I use the illuMask Acne Light Therapy. It’s a device that uses red and blue lights to get rid of acne, it 30 bucks and can be use only for 30 times before its time for a new one. It’s a holy grail for me and I can get it at Walmart or Target.
Hair : I have a few inches of hairpin top of my head and a drier 4c hair type so I wash my hair once a week with a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. To moisturize my hair I then apply a waterbase leave moisturizer and then seal in the moisture with my choice of oil be it Coconut or olive.
I can have dry scalp problems so I oil my scalp a few times a week with either Jamaican black castor oil or a oil mixture of grape seed, peppermint, and lavender oils ( the last two are great for hair growth). I deep condition my hair once a week as well.
BODY: my body is sensitive to a lot of products and I have acne prone skin on my back, chest, and shoulders. So I use that same PanOxyl fax wash on those areas and for the rest of my body I use black soap. If I exfoliating my skin I use the Tree Nut Shea Sugar Scrub. As far as body lotion goes I stick to baby lotion and on the acne prone spots I put the Cetaphil moisturizing lotion on those areas.
Mikey oh my god I use tend skin too, a lot of people aren’t familiar with that product and it works wonders on razor bumps. My face is so oily and acne prone that I have to stay on top of it, but I have yet to find a mosturizer that doesn’t break me out. Jamari I love when you do post like these lol I’m sucker for health and beauty topics. I also have to switch my routine up with my face. A couple products my mom used on me every since I was a baby and I still use now is baby lotion and dove soap.
Yeah that Tend Skin works wonders, I hate that it’s a like pricey but worth it.
I have combination skin type as well and I’ve been told to get that clarisonic brush and the light therapy mask. Been dragging on that but I’ll do it this week.
I love my Clarisonic Mia brush I brought mine years ago and still use it. You just have to replace the brush head every 3 months.
P.S. There are cheaper alternatives to the Clarisonic out there. I know Vanity planet has a skin cleansing brush that has attachments for the body and feet for 30 bucks I believe (when you use a discount code, but they only give out the code to people who have followings on YouTube or blogs hint hint Jamari 😊 For them to give out to their followers, but the site has sales and deals on stuff ALL the time)
who is the guy?
I wipe my body down with Coconut oil. COD liver oil is a must . Water is always a must. Great advice.
^you already got it ke!!!!
I’ve been hearing about this new regimen for people of color where you literally just wash your face with water and put olive or coconut oil on and go or you create a steam mask with oil in the shower and let it sit and wash it off and go. Supposed to be simple but very much more effective than all these skin products on the market that are hit or miss for us.
^hmm.
would that work for oily skin tho?
i can see that working for drier skin.
oily and combination may require more effort.
For oilier skin types, salicylic acid is known to be good. It’s naturally found in lemons and other citrus fruit.
Here a link for the Oil Cleaning Method Jay is talking about

Love This!! Now the stuff I use is almost completely different but goes along the same route as yours. I’ll share just help on giving others options :
At night I use Clean&Clear night relaxing face wash to get rid of the oil that built up during the day. Then I use a Shea Moisture black soap face mask. Followed by just a few drops of tea tree oil on my face to re-moistureize it.
As for my AM regiment I’m a big fan of the Shea Moisture Black Soap Line(which is definitely not for everyone, black soap actually makes some people’s face worse). So for Hair: African Black Soap(ABS) Pre-Poo Rinse, ABS Shampoo, and ABS Conditioner, then I run some extra virgin coconut oil(EVCO) in it.
For face: ABS problem skin facial wash and scrub, then Clean&Clear morning burst fa VC is cleaner(with Vitamin C and ginseng) and then Clean& Clear Morning burst hydrating gel moisturizer.
And for body: ABS Body wash. A new thing I’ve discovered is the Shea Moisture Three Butters (Shea, Mango, and Avocado) Wash and scrub. Leaves my skin feeling real smooth after a shower. Then I use the EVCO(a little goes far) on my skin and some Shea Moisture Shea Butter lotion.
Also do the vitamins and fish oil instead of cod liver. And at least a gallon a day of water. Also getting in the habit of walking ~30 mins a day regardless of other exercise plans.
^*takes notes*
i’m always down to try something new.
i love this beauty talk!
i’m going to try that shea moisture wash and scrub butter!
sounds like i’ll orgasm LOL
thanks ns!
oh i use coconut anything as shampoo/conditioner.
i’m a big fan of coconut for hair now.
Coconut oil has SOOOOO many uses I love it! And no problem! I got the three Butters scrub at Target you can also get it off of Amazon
^im excited that it’s even titled “three butters” LOL
sounds up my alley for healthy glowing skin.
I cosign the coconut butter! It’s great for the hair as well, and it’s great to cook with as well! And apparently healthier than using other oils!
Coconut oil is like nature’s magic. My hair never looked so good. Do you think it would work on dry skin as well?
^yuppppppppp!!!!!!
it does wonders to hair and skin.
