i faithfully stream bishop td jakes service all the way from new yawk.
i often tweet while watching as well.
one day i will attend service live and in living color.
in the front row since i don’t “do” nose bleeds.
anyway td jakes had some interesting things to say about gays in the church.
someone sent him in a question during his “the huffington post live” segment.
since the foxhole makes up gay/bi/tri,
this one is definitely for us.
well…
Bishop T.D. Jakes thinks it is “absolutely” possible for the LGBT and black communities to coexist.Â
Jakes, who joined HuffPost Live on Monday, opened up to host Marc Lamont-Hill about his thoughts on the relationship between these communities.
“I think that it’s going to diverse from church to church every church has a different opinion on the issue and every gay person is different,” Jakes said.Â
While Jakes believes churches are allowed to practice and preach values shared by their respective leaders, he also advocates that LGBT people attend a church that aligns with their own beliefs and values. And although he admits that his individual stance on homosexuality is both “evolved and evolving,” he says all LGBT people should be treated with tolerance and respect.
“LGBT’s of different types and sorts have to find a place of worship that reflects what your views are and what you believe like anyone else,” he said. “And the church should have it’s own convictions and values.”
Jakes also reaffirmed that members of the LGBT community, like all american citizens, deserve equal protection under the law.
“Once you begin to understand that democracy, that a republic actually, is designed to be an overarching system to protect our unique nuances then we no longer look to public policy to reflect biblical ethics,” Jakes said.

article taken/watch video: here
Im really surprised and glad that a str8 black man is open-minded. That’s a first and possibly a better future.
He’s an amazing orator and his sermons always leave me in tears when I watch them online. I’m glad to hear someone of his stature not bashing the entire LGBT community and realizing that public policy/court decisions have absolutely nothing to do with religion. If that was the case, America would be an entirely different country.
I like some of his sermons, the one about the turtles versus the giraffe in regards to visions of success was amazing.
I know right Malcom! That sermon was the truth. Check out his book “Instinct” it’s in the same line as that sermon, u’ll love it!!
^GOOD BOOK!!!
