once upon a time,
i was an idiot who wanted to see the good in people after they said “sorry”.
those were fun times of learning that:

anyone can say they’re sorry when they’re sorry about their current circumstances.

it doesn’t mean they’re genuinely sorry.
we have programmed by our parentals that one word asking for forgiveness holds weight.
we were told to take an apology only to learn it meant shit in the long run,
especially when it came from siblings.

there are legit murderer that said they were sorry during sentencing,
all in hopes of getting off or a lighter sentence.

how many times has our toxic exes said they were “sorry”?
friends who hurt us and see we are doing better coming back with apologies?
“the one that let you get away” suddenly realizes you were the right one for them?

so when i saw kanye put out a full page spread in the “wall street journal“,
apologizing to the jewish and black communities for his past harmful behavior…

i couldn’t help but wonder,
in a world without the internet…

Would we still be hanging on to Diddy’s every word,
taking his “apology” at face value?

the real kicker is,
he managed to trip over his own statements by his actions.
diddy said his accusers,
cassie included,
were fabricating stories for a quick payday.
he even said in another post that time will tell the truth.
but then,
bam,
a video surfaces of his abuse caught him up in 1080p.
what really gets me when watching the “apology” video…

i’m learning this concept in my therapy called “forgiveness“.
people hurt me and i wanted all the smoke.
what does it serve me tho?
to be bitter?
mean?
un-trusting?
lonely?
not forgiving people who hurt me did more harm tbh.
alas,
i learned how freeing forgiving someone is.
will smith,
after months of being quiet,
has addressed the slap he gave chris rock at the oscars.

so one of my best friends said to me recently:

“There are people who are embarrassed to speak to you again.
They are embarrassed by what they did to you so they CAN’T speak to you.”

the crazy part is depending on who you are and how you come at me,
i’m always down for a conversation.
you’ll be surprised how people treat others when they hate themselves.
people can be real demons when they are fighting battles within.
it’s shocking that method man hated himself and had low self-esteem.
from what i remember,
he was always so charismatic and comfortable in his own skin.
he told a story about how he treated destiny’s child in the past.
he took that same moment to apologize for his behavior…
