I agree with the comments above, minorities are the only one’s in society that treat complexion as if it a different race, which is so ironic because those that act in that manner always want the approval of someone else, its so pathetic I have friends right now, in college that act like that and they are some of the lamest ppl you’ll ever meet, but I still love them and it’s kinda funny I think one of is actually creole

    it is sad because they miss out on so much.
    someone at my ex-job told me something and I will never forget it.
    we were having a little debate on complexion and they told me that i would not have lasted long if i was dark skinned.
    i looked around and saw that everyone that was black who worked there was light brown to yellow.
    it bothered me and made me realize just how things work in the world.

    Someone yesterday called me light skin. “That light skin nigga.”
    Mind you, I’m not light skin. A nice dark caramel is a more accurate description.
    I was kind of taken aback.Of course the someone calling me “lightskin” was darker complected. It was interesting to see how different people see the world.

      I am usually taken aback because I never really thought of what color I am
      (well paid attention to the point i put myself in a block)
      I moreso went on attractive levels lol
      I have seen some darker skinned Wolves that could get it with no questions asked.

    2. Someone told me I could pass the ‘paper bag test’ the other day. Now mind you, I’m a little bit darker than Victor – somewhere between caramel & milk chocolate…I was like, ‘huh?’

      Now she’s dark, so maybe that’s it, but it was weird.

      I think Latinos are more color-struck than Black people (in general); with maybe the exception of Creoles

      1. Well I wouldn’t pass a paper bag test, but my complexion is as clear as a hershey bar. Lol no red marks, no freckles and no blemishes. Thanks mom!

        If you can turn your nose up at these fine ass Nigerian dudes (and dark dudes period) in my city something is wrong with you period.

        Preferences are fine if that’s what they are, but a lot of people really mean requirements.

    and he told me he is guilty of being color struck but someone of my complexion and lighter would get a pass faster than a darker skinned person.
    he even admitted to say that the blackest spanish people are also color struck against their own complexion.
    bothered me a little, but whatever.

    Looking back I guess I may have been rejected because I’m on the darker end of the spectrum but I’ve never really cared because I wouldn’t get along with people like that anyway.

    I don’t mean to generalize (which means I’m about to), but in my experience as someone who was born and raised in the south, Creoles dudes are by far the most color struck. I think they keep paper bags in their back pockets. I don’t even acknowledge their presence.

      he is what you would consider a “dark spanish” in his culture (+ i think he is mixed black and spanish),
      so he may only like his light latina exxoticals…
      …or his light skinned black women.

      so thats Mexican JAY.
      Since Victor is Rican decent,
      he would more than likely prefer Fajitas, Tostones, Paella, Empanadas, and Arroz Con Gandules.
      He is next door in Jerz so I’ve already won.
