Jokes aside, I love that Gen Z are taking relationships seriously.
Now back to the jokes (kinda), wifey is gonna earn that rock… better to cry in a Range than a Honda.
At least he got down on the right knee.
Ok one more joke, they look alike. Seriously lol.
Congratulations! He got him a pretty brown piece of chocolate! Ya’ll know them thots 🤪 are hot on his trail.
I’m probably gonna ruffle some feathers, but…I’ma say what’s on my mind regardless.
Why do we have to stress the fact that two black people are in love on social media by calling it “black love”…??? I don’t understand the need to do this and it makes it seem like it isn’t normal or it wasn’t expected for two black people to be in love with each other. Black love IS love!
Because the negative stereotypes of black on black love. There’s either the perceptions that black men leave black women once they have children or the professional athletes prefer any woman besides black woman. So it should be celebrated to combat that narrative.
You see, Lex, that’s the problem…it is just a perception and false narrative that so many black people have fallen for. There’s no dearth of “black love” like some people think there is. The U.S. Census Bureau (2017) found that the majority of black men marry black women (84%) and the majority of black women marry black men (93%). According to Black Demographics:
“It is also believed that a large percentage of Black men marry White women. This is often cited as one of the causes of lower marriage rates among Black women. This however is only partially true. While Black men marry white women at twice rate that Black women marry White men, in 2017 only 15% percent of Black men were married to non-Black women which is up from 11% in 2010. About three-fifths of those non-Black women were White. So there is evidence of an increase of Black men “marrying out” of their racial demographic. As a matter of fact the Pew Research Center released a report finding that 25% of Black male newlyweds in 2013 married non-Black women compared to 12% of Black women who “married out”. However Asian women and Native Americans still have higher rates of interracial marriage. Black women were the least likely to marry non-Black men at only 7% in 2017, and only 4/% were married to White men.”
I think too many of us are focusing on the exceptions and not the rule, but I digress….

I hate when people say ignorant shit like this. This is the same as non-Blacks asking why there’s a BET, Black History Month, Black Restaurant Week, Black Lives Matter.
I’m not even going to touch on the colorist bullshit.
Shut the entire fuck up.
There is nothing ignorant about what I said. It’s merely an opinion that’s clearly upset you… And that’s your problem not mine.
It’s like the slogan Black Lives Matter. We know Black lives do matter but what we witness on a daily basis and are told regularly because of systemic racism, by cops, politicians, through the media, schools, corporations, etc. is that Black lives do no matter. So it’s necessary to say it.
Think about the old phrase Black is beautiful, which is even more important today than ever before.
The same is true about Black love. None of us Black people living and posting on this site today would be alive if Black love did not exist and was not resilient and enduring. But again and again we’re told that love between two Black people (Black women and Black men, Black men together, Black women together, Black nonbinary people, etc.) is not as valuable or common as so many of us know it is. Instead, if there isn’t a White partner/lover or someone else, then it’s not as valid. That’s why. But yes, Black love is LOVE!
Thank you for your reply, TheLovToh. Believe it or not, I fully understand why some black people feel the need to stress it. We do live in an anti-black country that has subtly (and sometimes not so subtly) taught us to hate ourselves.
But, I feel that a lot of us–specifically those that shout “black love” the loudest on social media–pay way too much attention to these black male celebrities and athletes with colorist and self-hate issues that we are believing that they some how are the rule and not the exception. These same black people place all of their attention on if Michael B. Jordan likes black women and not enough on couples like Ryan Destiny and Keith Powers.
I see black love all around me. When I see my parents, grandparents, the spouses and bfs/gfs of my friends, aunts, uncles, and siblings. In part, because I choose to focus on love between black people because that is the love I prefer. So, for me, I don’t feel the need to say black love. That’s all I’m saying…
Thank you for commenting.
Because after the crack and heroin epidemic of the 80s and the incarceration of every black man in the 90’s its not.
So when it does happen its celebrated.
Learn your history.
Honestly that’s a bit tacky if instead of celebrating black love and a light skin man marrying a beautiful darker skinned black woman people are focused on his ass and pants. I can’t with my people sometimes!!!
Why does him being light skin matter?
Sis play with your parents, don’t play with me. You know damn well the point I was making. And if you’re attempting to deliberately be obtuse and I act as though you don’t well then I suggest you go an educate yourself because you don’t have the sufficient coinage for me to even give you the most basic lecture.
I’m with MTOFFT..why does him being light skin matter? Also I don’t think they were coming for u. They were just asking a question Lex…but go off.

Let him find you, Tash. After quarantine, go to charity banquets, volunteer events and charity sports games. He’s not at the club and doesn’t spend all quarantine on social media. There’s not enough time to chat in line at Starbucks. Barnes and Noble or a university library is another good place.
