so yesterday during the breakdown of my life,
my straight wolf friend came to my rescue.
he gave me a ton of words of encouragement.
he knows music is a big part of my life,
as well as his,
and he suggested songs that would help.
songs i listened to but never really paid attention to the words.
i put on mary j blige, “not gon’ cry”, and he flipped.
“DONT PLAY THAT BITCH SHIT!!!!
ARE YOU CRAZY!!!
THAT IS MUSIC FOR BREAKUPS AND RELATIONSHIPS!!!
YOU NEED MUSIC TO INSPIRE YOU!!!
“LISTEN TO THE WORDS AND HELP YOU RECHARGE” MUSIC!!!
SAVE THAT MUSIC FOR FEMALES WITH AIN’T SHIT NIGGAS!!!”.
well he was right.
i noticed i listen to music that deals with relationships when im sad.
suddenly im sad and depressed.
hip hop helps,
but some of it is too braggadocios.
see: jay z,
the new kanye,
and this new slew of rappers.
so he sent me 2pac,
biggie,
and eminem.
i decided to create a itunes playlist of music called “handlewithcare”…
if anyone else has any other songs that are inspirational,
or even have helped you through tough times,
please don’t hesitate to share it.
thanks.
lowkey: immanuel if you are reading,
what is that sade song you recommended to me?
ive been trying to remember the name for the longest.
thank you.

Jamari, I told you about listening to sad music when you are sad,
Ledisi- Alright: Because when life begins to get to you, know that it will get better one day
Ludacris- Slap: Name says it all, sometimes you just feel it
Smokie Norful- I Need You Now
Forever Jones- He wants it all: Just give it to God
Maurette Brown Clark- It Ain’t Over: Really powerful
Yolanda Adams-Victory, The Battle is the Lord’s, Someone’s Watching Over You, In the Midst of It All; I’m obviously obsessed with her but she really lifts me up and I hope at least 1 of these helps you too
Christina Milian- Believer
Hopefully one of these will get to you, they help me express myself when I’m down. I’m praying for you keep yourself up and know that the ppl that come here really care about you and wish for peace, happiness and true success in your life.
India.Arie ‘just do you’ is my song that song gets me upbeat and happy every time i listen to it it’s so inspiring and Sade Cherish The Day is my song it puts me on cloud nine i’ve listened to it over 600 times in my itunes….so be blessed brotha and don’t let your life consume you…remember your emotions, your pain your story will only ADD to your testimony when you get to where you’re going….all of this will not be in vain, the job that He has for you will be yours in due time…and know that you’re not alone too. I’m facing an eviction, i don’t have a job all while trying to prepare for exams, papers, projects this month and college graduation next month (did i mention i’m the first in my immediate family to graduate college so all of my family is coming up so which adds more pressure) but let me tell you my circumstances and my feelings don’t determine how good my GOD is or how great my life is…I’m breathing and waking up every morning, every day is a new day full of promises that GOD will provide for me and that my life ISN’T over yet… be blessed love…
Mary Mary – Walking, Go Get It,
Read what I posted on Benadryl thread I know there are free grief counseling groups in your area.It cant hurt and maybe it will help talking to a support group. In addition to prayer, inspirational music.Think about it
^i spoke to one and they told me,
along with being free,
that i needed insurance.
i stopped looking to look for a job full time,
but ill start back again.
thank you for the advice ycolette.
Good to hear mental health is just as important as physical health.
Could you send me key job descriptions from your previous roles? I’ll ask some friends depending on your background.
should i send you an email with the one you commented from ms?
Yes. Use that email and then I will reply with an email I use more frequently.
You should start meditating.Listen to some meditation music/beats and learn to let go of all thoughts for a few minutes. It can be very calming.
^im going to try that zen.
thank you.
