Mike Dozer, a controversial gay porn star who made headlines last year for opposing condom use and appearing in “socially irresponsible ( x NSFW )” porn, was arrested in December on charges of statutory rape, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, and aggravated indecent assault for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old boy he met on Jack’D.
This week, porn insiders have learned that the charges against 33-year-old Dozer (real name Christopher Steele) have been enhanced to include reckless endangerment, because Dozer allegedly may not have disclosed his HIV+ status before giving the boy poppers and having sex with him.
According to the Philadelphia Gay News, police in Delaware arrested Dozer after learning he drove to meet the boy at his house in Montgomery County, PA, for the purpose of having sex. It’s unclear whether Dozer and the boy had any prior contact, but Dozer’s lawyer, Kevin Wray, claims his client “attempted to end relations” with the boy after learning he was underage. But the boy, he says, “kept pursuing him and apparently had done so with others.”
Wray believes Dozer, who is currently being held in a Montgomery County prison on $1 million bail, did disclose his HIV status before having sex and believes the additional reckless endangerment charge is “homophobic”:
It bothered me a great deal and seemed to be offensive. He takes medication and is constantly moderating it. Charging someone with [reckless endangerment] because they are HIV-positive is homophobic and ignorant. We don’t go to people who have herpes, colds, Strep throat and charge them. If that is the standard, they need to be indicting everybody. It’s amazing that, 35 years later, the public is still oblivious to the simple fact that HIV does not equal AIDS.
Dozer is scheduled to appear in court again on February 27.

On a related subject, there is so much “I told him that I was HIV-positive” and “No, he never told me that he was HIV-positive” going on that people who are HIV-positive or who have other STDs (like herpes) should consider using a form like:

Such a form may take the sponteneity/romance out of sexual encounters but it would apparently put some much needed sobriety in sexual encounters. My guess is that the use of such a form routinely would cut HIV transmission rates by 90%.
