A woman filmed licking a tub of ice cream and returning it to a grocery store shelf in a viral video last week is facing up to 20 years in prison, police said Thursday.
The footage — which has been viewed more than 11 million times — shows the so-far unnamed woman opening a container, running her tongue across the ice cream then laughing as she places the violated dessert back in the freezer, in a branch of Walmart in the city of Lufkin, eastern Texas.
Police said on Wednesday they believed they had identified the suspect after “detectives had obtained surveillance video placing a woman matching the suspect description in the Lufkin store on June 28 around 11 p.m.” They are waiting to finally verify her identity before issuing an arrest warrant.
Police also want to speak to the man she was with, who is thought to have filmed the incident and can be heard encouraging the woman to “lick it, lick it.”
She could face a second-degree felony charge of tampering with a consumer product, the Lufkin police department said in an email statement to NBC News. The charge comes with a two- to 20-year prison term and up to $10,000 in fines, according to Texas state penal code.

Ok so for the sentencing, I think she should be fined and have to do community service. Truth be told, if I did buy ice cream from a store and caught someone doing this Id go off. My Cancer side would think about the other folks being potentially harmed and I’d report her.

Also, y’all need to watch y’all food when you go out to restaurants. When I used to eat fast food I remember seeing a pizza working outside smoking. He came back inside and started making stuff and he did not wash his hands or use sanitizer. You really need to look at the people that be handling your food.
I was a kid when the Tylenol murders happened. And as Jamari stated, it affected the packaging of everything nationally from food to pharmaceuticals. Before Tylenol, most ice cream was packaged like Blue Bell. While I agree with everyone that the young lady definitely needs to be punished, as a consumer I’ve never f*cked with any food, especially ice cream, that isn’t sealed in a modern manner (like Haagen Daas or Breyers), as if Jimmy Carter or Reagan are still in the White House. It’s been almost 40 years since the Tylenol incident, Blue Bell, package your sh*t properly!
She has been identified as a teenager from San Antonio so the case will be turned over to the juvenile dept.

How do you feel about what she did? Also, what do you feel would be the proper outcome for her, if you were the judge?
If this is her first offense I would be OK with 1 year of community service in a hospital. Where she will have to help take care of people with cancer or weakened immune systems. People who may have died if someone with a communicable disease had licked their ice cream before them.Also maybe have her spend 48 hrs in juvenile detention to serve as a deterrent for other people considering pulling this stunt.And no social media for a year, that’s probably worse than prison for some people 😂.
What she did was stupid and irresponsible but the rest of her life should not be defined by one stupid moment,IMO.
Yes, arrest her, fine her heavily, and have her spend a few months in jail. Having her spend two to twenty years in prison seems a tad excessive IMO. Two to twenty years should be more in line for violent criminals and repeat offenders.

I don’t feel an ounce of sympathy for her. After she tampered with the ice cream she went on her social media, expressed no remorse or regret whatsoever and then incited others to go tamper with food products as well. She broke federal laws, flaunted her crime, and then encouraged others to go break the law as well. She showed malicious intent before, during and most especially after. She’s not going to do anywhere near the max, but she’s more than earned whatever punishment she gets. I have the same level of care and concern for her that she had for whoever was going to end up with the ice cream she licked: NONE.
I’m sure people have already told the police who it is. Lufkin Is a very small city in Texas. It won’t be hard to find the girl.

Blue Bell did state this in their response to the whole situation:
“During production, our half gallons are flipped upside down and sent to a hardening room where the ice cream freezes to the lid creating a natural seal. The lids are frozen tightly to the carton. Any attempt at opening the product should be noticeable.”
So even if they continue not to seal their joints, one should be able to tell if it’s been tampered with I guess…
But yeah, I’m all about that seal from now on, smdh.

my brother used to drive for Blue Bell. he said the way they package by placing the lid on then turning it upside down creates a rigorous seal which makes it hard to open. I suspect after this though they will be plastic sealing their products like the other ice cream companies do. it’s all over the news in every state so her free days are numbered and Texas believes in locking ppl up
