the boy is mine remix is brandy and monica featuring ariana grande?

when “the boy is mine” dropped in 98,
with brandy and monica belting out their soulful rivalry,
it was more than just a song.
it was a cultural moment.
the ultimate for young millennials.
i still remember Mum surprising me with the maxi single.

unforgettable.

I’ll also never forget her apartment flooding just as Brandy was hosting MTV for the weekend,
promoting her new album and “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.”

chaotic….
but what a year.
brandy and monica’s sophmore albums still hold a special place in my heart.

ariana grande is trying to capture that magic in her “yes, and?” era,
but nothing’s landing quite right.

even her duet with mariah failed to make waves but only a cute splash.
she tried re-doing “the boy is mine”,
but not like the OG,
but adding brandy and monica to the remix…

so i listened to cowboy carter and well…

i saw “act ii: cowboy carter” leaked yesterday and i told myself:

“DON’T JAMARI!
CHILL!”

i was laying in bed,
while recovering from bad allergies when i saw it all over twitter.
i am proud of myself for waiting until the actual release to listen.
so my thoughts

let’s stop acting like we would appreciate whitney if she was alive today

We barely appreciate Mariah and all the other legends.

i keep saying and fonting that people don’t appreciate you until you gone.
until you say “fuck you, don’t talk to me anymore, goodbye“.
folks get the message either through death,
when they see your ass glo’d up in “new me; who dis?”,
or you not fuckin’ with them anymore because of being taken for granted.

“OMG!
______ was so amazing and I miss them so much!”

tell us how you fucked up and lost a good thing without telling us.
so when i see shit like this…

bey said we are going to ride the cowboys at the rodeo this era

I called it.
I knew it.
I felt it.
I heard it.

i had a feeling bey was dropping new music.
she wasn’t walking around here like dolly parton.
i knew before her iconic verizon commercial during the superbowl:

pause: i love love LOVE this commercial.
i love when bey shows us her personality.

well after usher’s concert,
bey was like it’s my turn and she broke the superbowl cause…

the “i could have done better” crowd have issues with usher

as a millennial,
i pulled up to see my gen x legend give us a performance.
usher has been a part of many of our lives since we were young.
he has done some dumb shit over the years that has gotten him caught up.
see what i did there?
he’s like bey with songs that bring back hella memories.

Sidebar: I’m listening to Confessions and I am taken back to a time when I was getting over someone.
I couldn’t listen to this album for a long time but it still sounds so fresh as it did in 2004.

i remember when “yeah” dropped and all the white wolves lost their shit.
that song in the club use to activate peak “copy the video” too.
so when i see…
