oRDqfyfjk tremaine.
i kinda agree with his answer,
but then i don’t.
ive said it once and i’ll say it again.
line up all these albums:

TreySongzReady TreysongzPPPTrey_songz_chapter_v_cover_real Trey_songz_trigga…and tell me whats the difference?
they all like one long album.
now don’t get me wrong,
“trigga” was a GREAT effort.
i enjoyed it a lot.
i was actually listening to it the other day.
trey’s music topics usually consist of:

i fuck good
i club hard
i find bitches at the club to fuck good and hard
i stole your girl at the club,
she got me hard,
and then i fucked her good

…and the occasional drug use.
that’s it.
he needs a classic love song.
something that will be timeless.
does he even have timeless music?
on another hand,
if they can nominate this:

iggy-azalea-things-you-dont-know…then he could have gotten nominated for something.

lowkey: i respect the fact he hasn’t deleted the tweets.

  1. I agree with him as well. Most of the categories are for POP music and if you do not have a chart topper in it you want be recognized. They go by the number of weeks a record stay on the charts in the #1 position or what the white fan base is listening too. It’s sad that this is still the case for so many things that goes on in this country regarding the Arts.

  2. What Trey and Kanye mean is that for decades black people have gotten overlooked at the Grammy’s. Tupac and Biggie don’t have Grammy’s and we all cherish them. This sentiment goes back to Public Enemy and for years hip-hop artists have protested/stop acknowledging its’ existence. Hence the inception of the BET Awards. It was created so our artists and music can be awarded and appreciated.

  3. I mean Trey Songz hasn’t won a Grammy for the simple fact that all he talks about is sex and women. That’s his only gimmick. I can’t think of one song well “making love” aka fuckin’ wasn’t the underlying subject. Either that or drankin’ and partying. Even R. Kelly (the king of sex music) has written more about it. Thus, the reason why he has so many Grammys. I do agree though that sometimes favoritism does play a part in these award shoes. Sometimes, I think that the winners know before hand. They don’t even broadcast all the awards that are won. I think they have about 78-109 categories. Categories are added and removed every year.

  4. As with most of his albums, there are only one or more tracks that I find myself really liking. Everything you mentioned above: clubbin, sexin’, etc., is tired music. Every artist and their brother are bragging about how they put it down in the bedroom! Hell, even old ass Charlie Wilson is doing it. LMAO
He needs to be more creative with his music and take risks, something I think he’s scared to do.
And he’s so wrong when he say the Grammy’s are a popularity contest. You have people you didn’t even realize had music out winning Grammys! How the hell is that a popularity contest?! Now the AMA’s & Billboard Awards are popularity contests. Get it right Trey! LOL

    1. Though not as much as the AMA’s and Billboard Awards, the Grammy’s have become more of a popularity contest over the past 10-20 years. Back in the 80s and 90s, the Recording Academy seemed more hesitant to to give Grammies to the superstars of that time. There were many big eras of that time where projects dhad really few nomination. Now, stars like Beyonce and Rihanna can relatively hoard Grammies.

      1. AMEN OPM1988, you spoke nothing but the truth, it used to be a time when the Grammy was prestigious and most of the winners were excellent and it was always nice to have a unknown with excellent music win over a more established artist. But back in the 80’s and 90’s you still had real musicians, and not computer singers like today who win Grammy’s.

    2. First let me say I agree that he does put out the same album/mixtapes every project. I also would like to see him get a little creative but he’s found his niche that works for him and he’s selling so if it aint broken (for now)…

But he’s actually kind of right about it being a popularity contest b/c of the grammys voting system. From what i understand it is comprised of experts in certain genres of music, but everybody gets to vote for everything i.e. an expert in rock music gets to vote for r&b, country, etc. So if youre voting for a genre that you dont really listen to, their gonna go with ppl they “know” or have heard others talking about rather than taking the time out to genuinely listen to every album/song cover to cover and deciding who put together the best project. This is a big reason why ppl were mad that iggy might have won, not cause she had the best album, but b/c she is a name that they will recognize or why ppl saying beyonce always gonna win a grammy might have some truth to it. Which is why a lot of artists now a days have lost respect for grammys (not all respect, but a lot) esp. in the hip hop community.

That being said, even if it wasnt i still dont think trey would win a grammy b/c he’s not famous for putting out powerful music but for turning ppl on

  5. Since he felt the need to tweet, he obviously felt some type of way. However, it is good to see that he has feelings and probably wants to be more established. Trey does not appeal to white america, therefore he will probably never win a Grammy. The soccer moms do not even know who he is. Am I lying? Musically he has declined. On his last album, I liked a few tracks, but nothing powerful. If he stops selling sex, maybe he will win more.

Shade? Who has he been hanging around to be using that word? That is why he gets clowned.
