The Job Interview This Morning on Week “14 out of 25”

i nearly ran out the door without my folder.
it’s the one i like to keep my resumes in.
i had to get to staples asap because i had no resumes printed either.
it was going to be a very busy morning,
but i was so excited for this interview today.
well,
this morning.
this is why i tell everyone don’t burn bridges

so it’s week “14 to 25” and i needed to do something.
while pondering what road i should take last week,
even looking at retail which i dread,
i had the bright idea to contact one of my networks.
she is a vixen who happened to work with oprah.
if she had anything in her radar,
even if she knew something,
i was happy to try out for it.

i haven’t heard from her in a while.
we met at the old job while assisting my old boss.

she would always come see me at my desk when she came over there.
i told her my love for oprah and she would bring me “o” magazines.
she actually gave me a “o” magazine before it hit shelves.
like,
two weeks before.
it was a special edition that i still have.
she hit me up immediately and said she had a position i’d be good for.
i would meet with hr for the interview.
the problem is,
it was for a position that i was under-qualified for.

yeah,
not really.
this role would require a degree and experience.
instead of cancelling it,
i decided to book the interview and at least show up.
it was no harm in trying,
at least.
i took one of the foxholers advice in going to interviews to stay sharp.

i arrived on time.
945am sharp.
interview was at 10am.
i was at staples by 9am.
i was met by a snow bunny in her mid 20s.
her spirit was warm.
during the interview,
she told me more about the position and what it entailed.
in my head,
i was like:

i was not that fox for this.
this is when you know your lane.
now as you know,
i want something lighter than my past jobs.
this was the last jobs plus more.
it was very attention to detail and a lot “yes sir! no sir!”.
i could sense my misery.
so i was honest with her.

“I don’t think this is the type of position I’m looking for at the moment.”

she…

appreciated my honesty and wanted a clear idea of what i wanted.
so i told her and she welcomed it.
she said that particular position requires a lot and it can be very hard.
i am so good on that.
jamari fox has been driven to crazy for the last time.

she said she would email me with positions within the company.
ones she knows i will be good for.
i told her my job deadline and she wanted to help me as much as she can.
i shook her hand and she showed me out.
i felt good about it,
but the hunt still continues.
i sent her and my connect a “thank you” as soon as i got in.
my connect wants to meet so we can brain storm.
lets.

  1. Love the way you stuck to your guns , You already have been through that type of draining job. By sticking to your plan finding a lighter job you’ll be able to used that saved energy for your true goals.

  2. Test PASSED. Bruh, you gon blaze a trail in these here streets. #WINNING … Cause you know you, and you OWN you!

  3. What I love is your honesty in the situation because some people will just jump into it and know it’s not the right fit but jump in and drown in the work experience and it will ruin all the good that they have going on for them

I’m sending positive vibes that your job hunt will return to you the goal soon.

    1. ^and that’s a lot of what people do!
they take the job and end up failing.

how would it look that the vixen recommended me,
and she is working with oprah so obviously im someone she thinks is qualified,
to taking that position and fucking it up?
that makes the vixen look bad and myself as well.

so i chose to be honesty and ya know what ronnie?
that felt freeing because ill be pushed into jobs i can handle.
