1405775761_alexandra-shipp-aaliyah-movie_1every time i see this comparison,
i want to haul off and slap someone.
anyway tonight is the night.
the aaliyah biopic will be premiering on lifetime.
8pm.
are you excited?
nervous?
no fucks to give?
i’m ready,
reminded,
and will be on twitter for the responses.
i kinda felt sorry for the actress,

LHxpXopso she connects with aaliyah because…
she also has an older brother?
yeah.

not really feeling her.
def could do without hearing her talk too.
…and the singing?
i can’t…
am i the only one,
who strongly believes,
and this is no disrespect,
that aaliyah doesn’t need a biopic?
she was kind of…
boring.
she had great music,
music i still listen to,
but her life wasn’t filled with drama.
britney drama.
whitney drama.
chris brown drama.
she wasn’t some damaged singing star.
she was just kinda there.
maybe there is more to her than we know.
i think if someone made an r kelly biopic,
with some aaliyah scenes,
it would have been a lot more interesting.
everything about this movie just seems so disrespectful to me.
lets see if it lives up to my thoughts.

lowkey: everyone that has mentioned that has met aaliyah in conversation,
people who don’t even know each other,
all have said to me she that she had a nasty attitude.
allegedly.
…and personally,
that her made her a little more interesting.

  1. Personally I feel a aliyah waa overrated. Let me know is probably the only song that showed a decent range. She hadn’t had stellar records nor out long enough to show longevity.

  2. I don’t think Aaliyah was boring i just feel that in 2014 we’re so used to ratchet, raunchy woman on tv that when someone keeps their business to themselves they’re considered boring…Aaliyah was a trendsetter in a sense that she was like the first female to sing over real hardcore hip-hop beats. Aaliyah, Timbaland and Missy created a new formula that is still relevant to this day…in the early 90’s hip-hop tracks and R&B tracks were different like night and day. The R.kelly thing was brief in her life so i hope the movie doesn’t just focus on that. i would like the movie to showcase some stuff from her days in Detroit, she was born in bed stuy but raised in Detroit…i loved how everywhere i read, from fans, random people who ran into her while she was living and others all said she was down to earth and sweet, no one really mentions her in a bad light. I even remember Left eye saying nice things about how right after she passed…Aaliyah, Brandy and Monica and all the other nineties artists came during a time where your personal life was just that and your music sold because of your work ethic…a time when the industry sill had some kind of morality lol…it’s just sad that she passed so young. kidada jones and aaliyah were working on a clothing line when she died…she was set to do two matrix movies and her last Album debuted at number 2 on billboard back in 01 with 187,000 copies the first week..i remember reading Beyonce’s interview when she said Aaliyah went shopping with DC during the time her choreographer Fatima worked with them for a song Timbaland produced and how they just loved her spirit, sense of humor and how she was always humble. At that time she was big and they were just getting started but she still was showing them love..i don’t think she slept with Jay everyone thinks a girl is sleeping with a guy because they hang out and at that time Dame had more bread then Jay lol Dame Dash was the man at one point . Honestly i’m kind of scared to watch this flick tonight i’m afraid how it’s going to turn out lol…

  3. That pic of Aaliyah and Jay-Z all snuggled, there’s def something there. Considering he is/was Dame Dash’s BFF, that’s pretty odd. I wonder why Wendy didn’t choose to expand upon on that. Or maybe she does. All I know is, this movie is going to be a cringe-worthy laugh out loud mess. As cringe-worthy & lol messy as that Michael Jackson biopic starring Flex Alexander.

    Mess.

  4. Lets not hate on this young lady. When a celebrity dies and a biopic is done we always hate on the person portraying them. Personally, I don’t believe Aaliyah was boring, however she did not live long enough for us to find out things about her. We knew things popped off with her and Kelly in the 90’s, and she disappeared for a while after that, but much of her life is a mystery. I think if Aaliyah were alive today we would have definitely known most if her buisness due to social media.

    1. ^like you know britney’s a mess and whitney was battling her demons.
      like…
does anyone care if she was married to r kelly?
it wasn’t like she was married to him when she died.
it seemed like a really quick thing.
thats what i mean by “boring”.
she didn’t get “there” in her career yet to have a real story.
i wonder if they’ll mention brandy and her fighting…?

      1. Horrible ain’t it? When the father said “You did what?” I knew it was going to be a lot of bad acting in that joint. SMH
