putting my little fires out / “there will always be another place”

last night,
i got swept up into a show on hulu that took me under until 5am.
as you can imagine,
i’m tired af,
but it was well worth it.
the show was called

“little fires everywhere”.
it starts kerry washington and reese witherspoon.
the show description is:

Based on Celeste Ng’s 2017 bestseller, “Little Fires Everywhere” follows the intertwined fates of the picture-perfect Richardson family and the enigmatic mother and daughter who upend their lives.

Starring Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington, Little Fires Everywhere follows the intertwined fates of the picture-perfect Richardson family and an enigmatic mother and daughter who upend their lives. Based on Celeste Ng’s 2017 bestseller, the story explores the weight of secrets, the nature of art and identity, the ferocious pull of motherhood – and the danger in believing that following the rules can avert disaster.

…and the story gets more intriguing as every episode goes.
the acting is phenomenal and i’m sure awards will be one.
shiiiiiiiddddddd…
this damn show had me bawling at 3am.

kerry said a line that stuck with me in the first episiode tho.
kerry’s response to her daughter not wanting to move was:

“There will always be another place.”

that hit me for whatever reason.
there will always be another place,
another wolf,
another job,
and another friend.
if something/someone doesn’t work out,
there will always be something or someone else to take it’s place.
i feel that was a message for my new un-named era.

“Let it go/There will always be another place.”

i don’t know who needed to hear that,
but maybe its time to get moving on so you can reach your next plateau.

  1. This show is my new addiction. How Kerry and Reese play with the push/pull and slow burning tension between them wears me OUT. Its like watching younger versions of Viola and Meryl. I love the references to the mid-nineties with the music, hair, and clothes too. I love a good drama and cant wait for the next episode.

  2. Maaaaan this is the one show that I am mad that I can’t binge watch all at once, especially for a limited series. This is much better than the actual book. I think the added dynamic of Kerry’s character being black adds a different perspective to it.

    1. ^OBSESSSSSSSED S!

it’s funny how kerry and reese are both overbearing in their own way.
i’m trying to watch this show slowly LOL
      really into it.
